CR84FN31 - Birthday Greetings to Andrea ...

..... must be something special about June as my fellow design team member - Andrea - is celebrating her birthday this week and I'd like to take this opportunity to send her my very best wishes for a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!

And now to show you the wonderful colours for this week's CR84FN challenge - you're going to love them - light pink, medium green and neutral!  Gorgeous!!!

Our inspiration photos this week are courtesy of Steve Steinhardt - those roses are lovely.  I love this week's quote - Jonathan and I spend so much time laughing.  Only two months and he'll be back home with us!

Anyway, to my card - it's a birthday card for Andrea - and I happen to know that she has already got it!  Which is good - because it was a real surprise to her.  The inspiration for Andrea's card are the lovely roses from the inspiration pictures - and it also meant that I could play with my new rose stamp.  I stamped the rose in Regal Rose and clear embossed it to give nice raised lines defining the petals.  Next I sprayed the image with water and added dots of Regal Rose ink to the water.  The ink disperses in the water and as the card dries out, the result is a lovely shaded effect.  I think I saw this technique on Splitcoaststampers.

While the rose was drying I made my backing paper.  I used one of my favourite - Bride's Paper (discontinued) from Stampin' Up!.  I sponged Wild Wasabi all over the paper and then used a soft cloth to buff off the excess - revealing the lovely resist pattern on the paper.  I wrapped the last of this lace around the backing and attached it to the cardbase.  I used Labels 10 to make the sentiment tag and added a simple frame around the sentiment.  The leaves were die cut and inked.  Then I assembled the card, took some photos and popped it in the post to Andrea.

Stamps:  Stampin' Up! - Fifth Avenue Floral; Waltzingmouse - Say It With Style, Very Vintage Labels No 10
Inks:  Versamark;  Stampin' Up! - Regal Rose, Wild Wasabi, Rose Red
Spellbinders:  Labels 10 (S5-022) die # 2; Foliage (S4-328)
Accessories:  Card, lace, embossing powder from stash

The picture above is a close up of the rose - here you can really see the embossed petal edges and the lovely shading from this technique.  It's really easy and lots of fun - and no two roses look alike!!
