St Luke's Charity Card Challenge ....

... drum roll please - here it is, what you've all been waiting for .....  the St Luke's Charity Card Challenge.  I was really pleased to be invited to join Tara's Design Team - the aim is to help St Luke's Hospice raise much needed funds.  I'm sure that many of you, like me, have already experienced the care and support offered by the many hospices around the country.  St Luke's is based in Sheffield and their aim is to "care for people aged 18 and above who have incurable illnesses.  Our aim is always to control their symptoms, alleviate pain, and give them the best possible quality of life - all free of charge".

Now without further ado - the challenge for April (don't forget we're a monthly challenge - so you've lots of time to make lots of entries) is "Say it with flowers".   There are no particular rules - you can make any style, for any occasion and use any flower - just have fun!!

As many of you know, I've had my Mum staying with me through March - and we've had such fun.  Today, I am taking Mum home - she's looking forward to being back in her house.  And we're also going to see my Aunt and Uncle reaffirm their wedding vows this afternoon.  So Mum asked me to make them a special card to celebrate the day.  So, here's my card.

It's A5 in size and the card base has a subtle hammered texture.  I used the Glittergirls embossing board - Splendour to make the two layers on my card.  I've not had success with them before - but it worked a treat this time!!  I cut out the shapes and then added some colour using my distress inks.  I also inked the edges of the base card.  I attached the base layer directly to the card and then added this beautiful fuchsia (from a decoupage kit that I've had a while and I don't know the company).  I added the inner frame and completed the decoupage.  A very clean and simple card - and a not a style I usually do.  But I really enjoyed making it.

Inks:  Distress - Spun Sugar, Worn Lipstick
Accessories:  Glittergirls - Splendour Board; Card from stash

I do hope you'll join in the fun and make a card using flowers.  Please post it on your blog and link to the  St Luke's Charity Card Challenge.  If you can spare the card(s) you made, you could also send them to the Hospice (using the Freepost address or a stamp) so they can be sold to raise funds.  Don't forget to visit my fellow DT members - they have some lovely cards to inspire and share with you:
I made my card for Ian & Sue ages ago - I used some fabulous colours from CR84FN14 - check it out here.  Don't forget that tomorrow is the new CR84FN challenge - and once again we have great colours for you.  See you then!

A beautiful card and a fantastic cause. I support my local Treetops Hospice who made my cousin very happy during her last few months so that is where my spare cards go :o)

Good morning Debs. Your card is gorgeous. I have some of these GG boards and I can`t say I`m too impressed ( ha ha get it) with them but you have done a sterling job. The inking gives such a delicate touch and the flowers are fabulous.
