Book Worm ...

... Good afternoon! I've a fun clean and simple card to share with you this afternoon:

Read - photo by Deborah Frings - Deborah's Gems

Stamps: Clearly Besotted - Book Worm
Inks: Versamark - Onyx Black; Distress - Spiced Marmalade
Accessories: White Lustre Card; Stampin' Up! DP - Pumpkin Pie; Zig Brushes; Istencil - Circle; Clear Embossing Powder; Wink of Stella - Clear, Gold, Black; Glossy Accents

When I saw this week's challenge at Less is More - LIM#302, where the theme is Books/Literature, I knew exactly what stamps I wanted to use. Indeed, Anita had already used my favourite little book worm on her lovely bookmark. I used my MISTI to line up the images and stamp them in Versafine onyx Black. I heat embossed the images with clear powder. I used my Zig paint pens to colour the images. I cut masks for the bookcase, the book worm and the sentiment and then I lightly stencilled a pattern over the images. I finished the front by adding some clear sparkle to the book worm and glossy accents to his specs. On the inside I cut a mat layer of orange design paper and on the white panel added another sentiment along with the book worm sitting on top of a nice big book!

I used the colours from the new challenge at Colour Throwdown - CTD#419.

I can't imagine a house without books. In our house we have book cases everywhere and they are mostly full. At our old home in Wales, we had so many books that the book shelves were overflowing. When we moved to the States we had to re-home many of our books. Going through our vast collection and picking only a few to bring with us, was one of the hardest jobs I had to do. My local charity shop were delighted with the number of books we donated - many of them hardbacks in excellent condition - I think they raised a fair sum!  Since arriving in the States we have collected more books, but nothing like the number we used to have. Jonathan has moved to e-books, but I still like to have a real book in my hand. And one of my favourite ways to spend the day is to sit with a good book and cup of coffee - my idea of heaven!!!

That's all for now!

I think we're book twins, Deborah! Nothing better than a quiet day, or evening, or both, with a good book and a cuppa, I quite agree. I can't imagine how hard it must have been to thin the collection for a move abroad! I don't even want to think about it!! Fab card - I love the super cute bookworm and stencilled background! Thanks so much for playing along with us at Less is More :)

Loving this little beauty Deborah! That image is just the best. Know what you mean about moving with books. We gave loads away but we still brought 10 boxes of books with us when we came to Portugal and I am ashamed to say that 2 years on only 2 boxes have been unpacked! We still have not bought bookcases or shelving as the villa has such quirky shaped rooms. I think of my remaining 8 boxes as treasures to be opened ...one day! Thanks for sharing your card with us at Less is More xx
