Ribbon Reel challenge ....

.... is just gorgeous.  The inspiration photo for Ribbon Reel 7 is softly subtle, pretty and feminine.  Debbie chose the photo and asked that we create a card inspired by the photo - it must be white/cream, use the colours pink and aqua and have a flower with ribbon and/or lace.

My first thoughts were to make a lovely lace and net dress with my new dress form from Waltzingmouse stamps.  But instead I've been playing with my new Waltzingmouse stamps.  Claire sneaked in an early launch for some sweet vintage girls - Cicely and Gracie.  The sets Claire launched feature the girls in Halloween garb - but I've gone for a soft, girly colour scheme with flowers and lace and I think Cicely could easily be a fairy in training!!!

I started off by stamping Cicely onto some clean white card and coloured her with Promarkers and a clear Sakura Stardust pen for some sparkle.  I carefully cut the image out, excluding the pumpkin that Cicely is holding.  In my ribbon stash I found a pretty bit of white lace, which I coloured with my Promarker to match Cicely's coat.  I stitched the lace, thin pink and bright pink ribbons together and attached them to the card.  I stamped Cicely onto the corner of the card - being careful not to stamp the pumpkin - and then added the sparkle bursts from the stamp set.  I inked them with Versamark and embossed with Kaleidoscope embossing powder for some additional sparkle, and for a little more definition I added a touch of colour to the sparkles.  Sadly, they don't show up too clearly in the picture, but they are very pretty in real life!  Finally, Cicely waved her magic wand and some flowers appeared!!  And that sentiment is just such fun!

Stamps:  Gracie at Halloween, Cicely at Halloween
Inks:  Memento - Tuxedo Black, Angel Pink, Bahama Blue
Promarkers: Duck Egg, Baby Pink, Pale Pink, Blush, Satin, Walnut
Accessories:  Card, ribbon, flowers and embossing powder from stash

That's all for this evening.  I've got to make sure the children are all packed and ready to go away tomorrow.  Ben is flying back to London - he's off home to his Dad's, while Kathryn is spending a week with her grandparents and cousin, Georgie!!  To say that Kathryn is excited would be an understatement :)  Ben is being the cool teen; he's packed and very relaxed and ready to go.  And that means Jonathan and I have a week on our own :)

Bye for now - do drop tomorrow for my extra CR84FN card.  See you!

What a genius idea! I'd just dismissed the new stamps as purely halloween but need a rethink now :-)

Love the way you come up with something just that bit different - like the stiched lace & removing the pumpkin. I laughed at the magic wand bit too. Have alovely week just the two of you & take care of that knee.
