Waltzingmouse & Bling challenges ....

... the sketch for this week's challenge over at Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge has been designed by Edna Morrisedie - and it's super!  A nice clean and simple design that gives you so many possibilities.  And my card also fits the brief for this week's challenge over at CAS-ual Fridays - where we must "Bring the Bling!".

I knew what I was going to do when I saw this design - cupcakes!!  Lots of sweet, yummy cupcakes - but I was beaten to that idea - a few times!!!  So I had a bit of a rethink.  And I've made a Christmas card - part of my ongoing resolution to make my cards early.  It's quite a large card - A5 - but it had to be to accommodate all the stamps!!

These circular images (perfect for the sketch) are from the Around Christmastime set - which has some really super clean, graphic images.  I used Stampin' Up! inks to stamp the images and heat embossed them to add shine and sparkle.  On the snowflakes I used Kalediscope EP which has a lovely sparkle (doesn't show up well in the picture) and on the red and blue images I used clear EP to give a rich shine.  I added some more bling to the finished card by adding crystal gems to the berries on the holly stamp.  Really clean and simple - and another for my 2011 Christmas Collection.

Stamps:  Waltzingmouse - Around Christmastime
Inks:  Versamark;  Stampin' Up! - Night of Navy, Marina Mist, Bashful Blue, Rose Red
Accessories:  Card, gems and embossing powders from stash; Stampin' Up! - 1¾" Circle punch

I've taken a close-up shot of the snowflakes - hopefully you can see the sparkle from the embossing powder better.

I was up early with Jonathan - he's gone now and, at the time of writing, he'll be at Manchester airport waiting to board his plane - so I decided to make good use of my extra time this morning.  And I managed two challenges!!  And now it's time for breakfast and a nice cup of coffee - so I'll see you all later!

I like the unusual colours & that you didn't go over the top with the bling - it's still in keeping with the elegance of CAS yet has the bling factor.
Breakfast? Now what time was that? The PROPER time for breakfast is around 10am!!! (tongue-in-cheek of course - think I have the right idiom there, oh this English language....too much for my Viking brain this early in the morning!!)

I love this card, especially the little bejeweled holly leaves! And the pop of red - perfect. This set has been on my wish list - I think it needs to go into my cart.
