Waltzingmouse - 2nd Birthday Tea Party ....

... you may remember that last week I told you about a very special Tea Party happening this week - Waltzingmouse Stamps is 2 years old on 21st May.  To celebrate this milestone party - Clarie has organised a Tea Party competition.  Full details of the competition can be found on the link above - but in a nutshell you have to use one of Claire's "teacup, tea bag baggie or slice of cake templates" to make an entry for the competition.  And it's really worth doing - the prize is £200 worth of WMS goodies - I'm keeping fingers and toes crossed ;)

My inspiration for the teacup and saucer came from this week's CR84FN colour challenge and Claire's new doily stamps.   Yesterday I shared with you my CR84FN28 card - an invitation to Afternoon Tea, which featured a strip of card with a random doily pattern.  And here's my cup and saucer for the party.

I used the Teacup & Saucer template printed onto plain white card - 160gsm.  Before cutting out the component parts I distressed each bit with antique linen to give a soft cream colour. And then I randomly stamped some of the smaller doily stamps using red and yellow inks, with a little antique linen.  Then I very carefully cut out the components (don't have a cutting machine).  The hardest bit to put together is the cup footer, but I got there!  I wanted my cup and saucer to look like some fine china, so I added a gold border to the edge of the cup and saucer.  And I brought my own tea bag too!!

Stamps:  Waltzingmouse - Afternoon Tea, Dainty Doilies 2, Large Doily
Inks:  Stampin' Up! - Real Red, Daffodil Delight; Distress - Antique Linen
Template:  Teacup & Saucer
Accessories:  Gold pen from stash; Tea bag from kitchen :)

Here are a couple of close up pictures of the saucer and cup.  I'm really pleased with this project as  I rarely attempt to make anything other than cards!!  So this was right out of my comfort zone.   But I loved it and will probably have a go at another of Claire's templates.

There's still plenty of time to join Claire at Waltzingmouse's 2nd Birthday Tea Party - who knows, you might be the lucky one!!  So, please join us for tea and wish Claire and Waltzingmouse - A VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!

Before I go - I'll share the CR84FN colours again - they are so yummy - and it would great if you could join us!

I'll be back again tomorrow - it's time for us to join in the Waltzingmouse Blog Waltz - the theme for this month is masculine cards!!  Should be fun.  Full details of the Waltz are here - do join us!

Beautiful Deborah - I thought the teacup looked too tricky so opted for the easier tea bag. Yours makes me want to try the cup too - its so lovely :-)

Totally amazing! I never venture out of my comfort zone to dimensional projects because I can never make them look "finished" but you have done an excellent job of decorating and adding the special touches.
