Colour Q ...

.... has fantastic colours for this week's challenge.  I've missed several of the recent Colour Q challenges as I was on holiday, so it's great to be able to take part this week.  And I think the colours are perfect for a guy card.

I love the inspiration photo - the really sharp, graphic lines on the cushion - fab!!  So I decided to make a really clean and simple card.  I finally got to play with all my lovey new Stampin' Up! card - brilliant quality card too.  My card is A6 in size, so I simply cut out mats in decreasing sizes in Old Olive, Kraft and Daffodil Delight.  I also cut a white piece to layer on top.  Onto this I stamped a really simple greeting in Not Quite Navy and then heat embossed it with clear powder to give a slightly textured and glossy shine.  I added a bit of raffia - card done.

Stamps:  Stampin' Up! - Occasional Greetings
Card:  Stampin' Up! - Old Olive, Daffodil Delight, Kraft
Accessories:  A6 card, raffia and embossing powder from stash

I'm getting ahead of myself - Father's Day isn't until June - but I think this is going to be for my father-in-law - he doesn't like anything very fancy - and this certainly isn't fancy!!  Sadly, my step-father died some time ago, so I don't have a card for him - but I do keep his memory in my heart.

That's all for now.  I'm busy thinking about my LIM card - to feature embossing - heat or dry - so I'll be back later with that.  In the meantime, I'm off to meet Kathryn who has been experiencing a "Mandarin Day" at a local school.  I do hope she's enjoyed herself.  See you later.

I like the touch of raffia - nice & original & masculine.
