CAS-ual Fridays ....

.... made it!!!  I was beginning to think that I wouldn't get chance to make a card for this week's challenge at CAS-ual Fridays.  This week they want us to use twine and buttons - now I really like the bakers twine that I've seen used on various cards, but sadly I don't have any - yet!!

However, I do have some rather lovely embroidery cotton that I thought would work.  But it's taken all week to come up with an idea for my cards - yes, I ended up making two!!  I've made baby cards - I need some for my stash.  The first card is for a new baby boy - it features twine, buttons and embossing!

Cuttlebug:  Embossing folders (2 × 2½") Set of 4 - It's a Girl: A2 Borders - Just My Type
Stamps:  Waltzingmouse - Celtic Heritage
Inks: Distress - Broken China
Spellbinders:  Classic Squares Sm (S4-128) # 4; Lacey Squares (S4-295) # 4
Accessories:  Card DCWV - The Glitter Mat; Twine and buttons from stash, Pebbles Inc Chalks

I have lots of Cuttlebug folders and realised that I've not used them anywhere near enough - so I had a rummage through my collection to find the buttons border - which I thought would be perfect for this card.  I also looked out the set that contained the baby in a peapod - in a set called "It's a Girl!" - well, I used it for my boy card - that's me - contrary!!

I added colour to the embossed image with some shimmery chalks and inked the edge of the image with distress ink.  I layered this image onto some fun card from my stash which I'd cut out with the lacey squares.  I put some of the embroidery thread in the buttons and stuck them on with pinflair glue - to make sure they don't come off!  I also added a twine ribbon above the embossed buttons and finished it all off with a tiny sentiment from a set that has barely seen any ink!  I borrowed Kathryn's teddy for the photo above!!

The second card is for a baby girl.  Once again I've used my Cuttlebug folders to make the centre image.  This time I opted for the pretty little parasol with the heart and I coloured it pink!  I used my beaded squares to cut out a pink mat.  I added twine to the edge of the card and one tiny button.  I finished off with a simple greeting.

Cuttlebug:  Embossing folders (2 × 2½") Set of 4 - It's a Girl
Stamps:  Waltzingmouse - Celtic Heritage; Baby set that I got from a bargain bin
Inks: Distress - Milled Lavender, Dusty Concord; Memento - Grape Jelly
Spellbinders:  Classic Squares Sm (S4-128) # 4; Beaded Squares (S4-315) # 3
Accessories:  Twine, buttons and paper from stash, Pebbles Inc Chalks

I staged this card with my daughter's cute kitty and a lovely pink feather scarf!!  As you can tell, I'm beginning to enjoy staging my cards!!  However, I really do need to get a proper set up for taking photos of my cards.  At the moment, I'm using a little table in my kitchen - which gets good light - but does have the drawback of the radiator behind it :)

That's all for now.  I'm going to be busy in my craft room this evening making lots of cards - which I'll be sharing with you over the next few days in scheduled posts (so long as Blogger plays nice!).

See you soon.

These are gorgeous Debs! I'm loving the embossing, you have to love embossing folders! They are just so effective for the little time that goes into them.
I bought a mini screne/studio thingy for photographing projects from Amazon which I use quite a lot. I also drape my curtain over a chair near the window which works just as well!

Those are too cute!

The first is my favourite of these - it's the button embossing echoed by the real buttons that does it for me - never mind the blue teddy staging. I can see you are having fun with that.

What I just love about the boy card its the use of other colors besides blue. The centre of your card is a lovely focal point. Gorgeous.

I always stick to pink when I make a baby girl card. And the umbrella on your card is amazing. I love the way you add chalk onto your cards. It's something I must give a try :)

Two cards for your stash and they are breathtaking!!!
