Thanks ....
... sometimes you just need to have a few extra cards in your stash - and thank you cards are always useful. This card has been made for two challenges - the Waltzingmouse Sketch challenge - WMSC53, which I found particularly tough this week and also for the colour challenge at Colour Q - cQC91.
The WMSC sketch has been designed by WMS DT memeber - Belinda Languer - she does great sketches - but this one was hard!!!
And I just love the rich colour palette for this week's Colour Q challenge - still has that patriotic feel!
As I said, my card is a thank you card - I think it has a slightly more masculine feel than some of my other thank you card - and that's due to the rich colours. I've taken a few liberties with the sketch - particularly by using a circle as the main element. I used my Lotus die to cut out the navy layer and then stamped the doilies in Versamark and heat embossed with clear powder to give a tone-on-tone effect on the burgundy and red (I've used Riding Hood Red as I don't have Ruby Red). I, very carefully, cut out the big doily - it's actually very easy, and used a circular punch for the smaller doily. The text panels were stamped in grey and then I cut out panels of equal size, and inked the edges with the matching colours. Finally, I added a simple sentiment!
Stamps: Waltzingmouse - Text-It, Dainty Doilies - Large, Dainty Doilies - Small
Inks: Versamark; Stampin' Up! - Bravo Burgundy, Riding Hood Red, Night of Navy, Basic Grey
Spellbinders: Lotus Pendants (S4-269)
Accessories: Card, embossing powder from stash; Stampin' Up! card
I had a good afternoon yesterday. Not only did I manage to do some ironing, but I also watched the Ladies semi-finals at Wimbledon. The first match was really good - three sets - always entertaining, and was finally won by Petra Kvitova; she beat Victoria Azarenka 1-6, 6-3, 2-6. The second semi was between Maria Sharpova and Sabine Lisicki; Maria won 6-4, 6-3. So the final is between two seeded players, but not a Williams sister in sight!!
And today is the Men's semi-finals. First up is Andy Murray (4) v Rafael Nadal (1) and this is followed by Jo-Wilfried Tsonga (12) v Novak Djokovic (2). So I don't think I'm going to be doing much this afternoon except watching the TV and rooting for Andy. I'd love to see the final between Murray and Tsonga, but I have a feeling it's like to go with the seeds and end up being Nadal v Djokovic.
That's all for now. Have a great day.

Way cool! You have been doing some awesome cutting on that doily lately, and I love that you changed up the sketch a bit ( I found this one challenging as well).

The dark colours are lovely & that doily really effective with your tone on tone stamping. The sketch would have floored me but I think your interpretation is excellent - they are after all supposed to be a staring point aren't they? Sketches I mean. Enjoy the tennis & glad you got the ironing done.
