.... I've been playing with my new Waltzingmouse stamps - they arrived yesterday afternoon and I spent the evening in my craft room having lots of fun!! What can I tell you? They are simply fabulous stamps - lovely images, great sentiments and some of the most gorgeous frames. The Big Day Essentials and Big Day Additions sets have great sentiments for weddings, but they can be used for other occasions. A case in point - "save the date" - for a birthday party!!
So what are we saving the date for? Well, it's Kathryn's 10th birthday in September and I know that it seem ages away, but the date will be on us before we know it. The thing is, Kathryn's birthday is right at the beginning of term - the first in her year - and we always have a scramble to get invitations out in time. So this year, I decided to let everyone know a bit early. School breaks up in two weeks and then the kids all go off to various holidays, visits and often don't see much of each other during August - so it seemed sensible to give lots of notice!! Also, I can play ;)))
I prepared the bulk of the information on the PC - but left space for the main sentiment and the cake. Kathryn told me what colours to use for each of her friends and also which was to have flowers or the swags. Kathryn's really pleased with the cards - so am I!! Here they are:
I used a mixture of Stampin' Up! and Memento inks to make each card. I kept the cake stand a subtle colour - London Fog, and for the main cake I used the lighter colour tone and the darker colour tone for the flowers or swags. The sentiment was stamped in the darker tone to match the flowers or swags. I used a handwriting style font for the main text - Bradley Hand - which is rather nice.
Below is a close up of the cards - concentrating on two of each style - I really like these cakes.
Stamps: Waltzingmouse - Eat Cake, Big Day Essentials
Inks: Memento - various colours; Stampin' Up! - various colours
Card: From stash
These aren't for any challenge - they just done for the joy of stamping. Do drop by again later, I hope to have a couple of challenge cards to share with you.
