RSD - Progressive Challenge Team B ...

.....  Good afternoon.  I'm very late with this post for the Rick St Dennis Progressive Challenge (I should have had this card up early this morning).  This month you must use the gorgeous Aloha Nui image (which you will have received if you played along with the first part of the challenge).  However, if you missed that you can buy the image at Rick's Zibbet shop.  Here's my card:

Aloha - photo by Deborah Frings - Deborah's Gems

Stamps: Rick St Dennis Digi - Aloha Nui; Waltzingmouse - My Island
Inks: Stampin' Up! - Crumb Cake, Strawberry Slush
Accessories: White Lustre Card; Fancy Pants DP - Beach Babe; SU Card - Pistachio Pudding; Copic Markers; Wink of Stella - Clear

I used a couple of challenges in the making of this card.  I used the colours from The Paper Players - PP#240 and the layout is based on the sketch at Freshly Made Sketches - FMS#182.  I printed this sweet lady on white card, coloured her with Copic markers, cut her out and added some sparkle to her flowers and hair with a clear Wink of Stella brush.  I found this fab piece of design paper in my stash - it wasn't quite the right colour, so I went over it with Copic markers and layered it on some pale green card.  I adhered the image with dimensional gel.  On the inside I cut a mat layer of green card and on the white panel added a little island and a sentiment.

The rest of Team B have made some fabulous projects with Aloha Nui - do drop by and leave a comment or two.  That's all for now.  See you soon.

Chillax .....

....  Hello again.  I woke up rather early today - something I often do at weekends, but struggle with during the week - go figure!!!  Anyway, I had a play and came up with a bright, clean and simple card for this week's CASology - CAS#137 challenge where the cue word is TROPICAL.  Here's what I made:

Stamps: Waltzingmouse - My Island; Verve - Learning to Sail
Inks: Memento - Tuxedo Black, Peanut Brittle; Versafine - Onyx Black
Accessories: White Lustre Card; Fancy Pants Designs DP - Beach Babe; Copic Markers; Wink of Stella - Clear

I actually had this card pretty much figured out when I saw what the challenge was, but only managed to make it this morning!  I stamped the surfboard several times and coloured them all with Copic markers - the colours coming from the design paper.  I stamped the palm trees in Versafine as it gives a really crisp image and added a few sand banks suggesting a beach.  I adhered the boards to the beach, stamped the sentiment chillax (love this word) and finished with a bright sun - which is sparkling!!  On the inside I cut a mat layer of design paper and on the white panel added another surfboard and a greeting.

It's always fun when you get to do lots of creative stuff at a weekend.  As well as crafting - we have a photo shoot with one of our favourite models today - Natalie.  She's always a blast to work with and we all get super photos - like these from a shoot this time last year:

If you'd like to see more photos of Natalie - click this link - it goes to the the album on Flickr.  The theme of the shoot was Steampunk - something Natalie does so well!

WMSFC - Playing with fabric ....

.... Hello again, I'm back with our new challenge at Waltzingmouse Fanatics - WMSFC#9.  No sketch or colours this time, instead we'd like you to use "FABRIC" somewhere on your project.  This can be in the form of ribbon, felt or fabric scraps, or you can stamp on fabric.  Whatever you decide, you MUST include some Waltzingmouse products on your project.  Here's my take on our fabric theme:

Fun in the Sun - photo by Deborah Frings - Deborah's Gems

Stamps: Waltzingmouse - My Island
Inks: Stampin' Up! - Early Espresso, Daffodil Delight
Accessories: White Lustre Card; SU Card - Early Espresso; SU DP - Daffodil Delight; Fabric Square; We R Memory Keepers - Fancy Floss Mud Pie

Okay, I have to tell you that I'm officially fed up with winter.  When I found this fabric in my stash I immediately thought of being in the sun, on a beach, sipping a large Margarita - so I had to see if I could use it.

I used the layout from this week's Freshly Made Sketches - FMS#118 and the colours are from Inkspirational - INK#47.  I used my stamp-a-ma-jig to accurately position and stamp the palm trees.  I hemmed the square using WRMK thread and then backed it onto brown card.  To make the horizontal panel I cut some yellow design paper and layered it onto brown and adhered it to the card.  For the inside I cut a mat layer in brown and stamped an island sunrise in the corner of the white panel, finishing with a fun sentiment.  I know it's not summer yet, but I'm really hoping it arrives soon!

I don't use fabric on cards as a rule, so this really was a challenge, but I'm quite pleased how it turned out.  Don't forget to check out Tara's inspiration card.  We're really looking forward to seeing what you make with our fabric theme.  You've got plenty of time to play along - deadline is Thursday 23rd January, 5.00pm GMT (that's 12 noon EST for those of us in the States).

Tara and I were so pleased to see so many lovely cards for our last challenge - hopefully, you'll enjoy this one just as much.  See you soon.
