Goth/Halloween Wedding ....

.... Hello! I'm here this morning with a rather unusual wedding card. Last Friday 13th October we all attended the marriage of our friend Rachel to her partner Barry. They are both complete nerds! They absolutely love Halloween - even to the point of picking Friday 13th. They also share a love of friends, family and all things goth and nerdy. It was a wonderful evening and I can now share the card that I made for them both:

Congrats - photo by Deborah Frings - Deborah's Gems

Stamps: Stampers Anonymous Tim Holtz - Day of the Dead 2; Waltzingmouse Stamps - Hocus Pocus; Winnie & Walter - Moonlight, The Big, The Bold & You; SU - Cheers to the Year
Inks: Distress - Milled Lavender; Versafine - Onyx Black; Gina K - Black Onyx; Memento - London Fog
Accessories: White Lustre Card; SU Card - Perfect Plum; Copics; Wink of Stella - Clear; Clear Embossing Powder

The inspiration for this card came from Rachel and Barry's wedding invitation (see the end of the post). I stamped the old fence along the bottom of all the pieces of card in pale grey. I added some bats, spider's web, and spider to add atmosphere. I used my MISTI to stamp the word 'congrats' and embossed it with clear powder. I finished the front by stamping the Day of the Day wedding couple, colouring it lightly with Copics and added sparkle with a clear Wink of Stella brush. I lightly inked the edges of the white card with some pale lavender and black ink, layered it on plum card and attached it to the card base. On the inside, I cut a mat layer of plum card and on the white panel added the smaller Day of the Day couple along with a simple message. I also decorated the envelope to match.

I'm submitting this card to Love to Craft Challenge Blog - LTCCB#15 where the theme is Anything Goes.

Before I go, here's a look at the invitation that inspired the card:

I don't think I'm ever likely to make another wedding card like this, but I had such fun making it! That's all for now - see you soon.

AC - 31 Days of Halloween ....

.... Morning!  Today I'm hosting the 31 Days of Halloween Blog Hop over at Airless Chambers.  I've made a Halloween card - well I need quite a few for my stash and this is the perfect opportunity to make them!  Here's my card:

Happy Halloween - photo by Deborah Frings - Deborah's Gems

Stamps: Rick St Dennis Digi - Mean Green 2015; Waltzingmouse - Spooky Tree Background, Say It Loud Winter Holiday, Hocus Pocus
Inks: Distress - Hickory Smoke, Dusty Concord, Faded Jeans, Weathered Wood; Versafine - Onyx Black; Memento - London Fog
Accessories: White Lustre Card; Stampin' Up! Card - Elegant Eggplant; Copic Markers; Clear Embossing Powder; Wink of Stella - Clear; Glossy Accents

I decided to have a monster on today's card and this digi is just brilliant.  Reminds me a bit of Audrey II from Little Shop of Horrors.  I printed the image on white card, coloured it with Copic markers, cut it out with a scalpel and added Glossy Accents to the drops of blood!  I also covered the plant with sparkle.  I stamped the super spooky tree image directly on the card and heat embossed it with clear powder.  Then I used Distress inks to create a night sky.  I made the moon by punching a 1" circle and adhering it after I'd done a light cover of blue.  I finished the front with a simple greeting.  On the inside I cut a mat layer of purple card and added some decoration and a greeting to the white panel.  As there's a monster on this card I'm playing along with this week's Left of Centre - LOC#98 challenge and the theme at The Paper Players - PP#265 is Halloween.

Halloween wishes ....

....  Good afternoon from a rather grey Northville!  It's beginning to look like autumn really has arrived.  We had more storms and high winds yesterday and today, it's dull and much cooler than lately!  Still, that's a good excuse to play in my craft room and I've been busy, but can't share them just yet!!!

I had fun making a Halloween card this morning.  I found a new challenge blog last week - A Step in the Dark - ASID#10 Anything Goes.  It is a bit different from other challenges; they are appealing to our darker side - emo, punk, goth, steampunk and just plain creepy, but I rather like it!  Here's my card:

Stamps: Rick St Dennis Digi - Strange Doll; Waltzingmouse - Hocus Pocus, Halloween Party, Ciecly at Halloween
Inks: Archival - Jet Black; Distress - Antique Linen
Accessories: Cream Lustre Card; Graphic 45 DP - Steampunk Spells; EK Success - Cobweb Punch; Copic Markers; Ribbon

I love this digi by Rick St Dennis - not too creepy, but definitely not cute!!  I printed her onto white card, coloured with Copic marker and then cut her out.  It doesn't show very well in the photo, but I soften the white by shading with Antique Linen.  I used the sketch from Clean & Simple Stamping - FTL#306, but I turned the sentiment panel so that the sentiment is at the top.  I covered the card with the texty paper, cut a panel of cream card and punched a cobweb edge.  I cut a smaller piece of patterned paper to go on top.  I edged the paper before adhering it to the punched panel.  I stamped the sentiment in black and finished the panel with some black ribbon.  I attached Strange Doll with dimensional tape.  On the inside I cut another panel of design paper.  I added a touch of colour to the cream panel, stamped the verse and added a few bats!

That's all for now.  See you soon.
