CR84FN53 - thoughtful .....

....  so sorry that I missed the first week of our CR84FN53 colours - it's been all go here.  I've finished unpacking the boxes - yippee!!!!  I've still got a bit of sorting out to do, but I found some time this week to make a card for the challenge.

Aren't these colours pretty?  Soft, subtle and feminine and perfect for my card.  Last week I was feeling a bit low and, in fact, had a good cry on Tuesday.  I was feeling quite homesick and was just fed up of boxes everywhere.  Then, in the post, I got this lovely card (see below) from Pauline - it's absolutely beautiful and it really cheered me up, so I've made my CR84FN53 card for Pauline.

I love the way Pauline has created the background patterns!  It's absolutely gorgeous - thanks!!

For my card I started off by stamping the large doily, in aqua, in the centre of the card, masked it and then stamped the background doily pattern in two shades of pink.  You may have noticed that I've based the background pattern on my card on Pauline's pretty doily pattern.  I finished off with a simple, but heartfelt, sentiment.  I've kept to one layer because it is easier to post to the UK.  I'm also submitting the card to the One Layer Wednesday - OLW86 challenge, which is to make a card for a woman in your life.  Both Pauline and I love Waltzingmouse stamps, and Pauline is a whiz with the doily set, so it seemed appropriate to use that set on her card!  So pleased to have OLW back!

Stamps:  Waltzingmouse - Large Doily, Make Your Mark; There She Goes - Sentimental Thank Yous
Inks:  Distress - Tumbled Glass, Spun Sugar, Worn Lipstick; Memento - Tuxedo Black
Accessories:  Card from stash

Oh Dear Deborah! What a lovely card, thank you! Yes, sometimes a good cry is what we need to let our emotions out, I know moving to a different continent is hard especially when we have loved ones at home. I can't wait to get this card in the mail, these colours are so pretty, and I do love these doilies.
Thanks again Deborah, if you need a chat, you know where I am xxx

Sorry your feeling down, Deborah. I think it's a build up of mixed emotions and I'm sure it will pass. Most of my friends and family have emigrated, and this has happened to all of them. My brother was terribly homesick when he moved to Canada, but it is now his permanent home and he has settled into a wonderful life there.
How kind of Pauline to send you a lovely card, and your card for her is really lovely, too.
Take care! xx

I can relate to your feelings, Deborah. When I moved from my home state of California to the Midwest - it took a very long time before those homesick feeling left. There are times when I'm still homesick, but they are far between now...it will get better.

Thanks for sharing this lovely card with us. I love how you incorporated the little hearts around your beautiful doily. A truly inspiring creation!

So sorry you were feeling down. I totally understand. I did the same thing when we moved to Alabama. I can't tell you how happy I was when we moved back home this last fall. I hope you start to feel more at home. Michigan is a beautiful place. I know you will love it as things start to bloom.

Your card is beautiful. That was so sweet of Pauline. :)

Hugs~

Glad you're sorted enough to have some crafting time - it's very hard having such an upheaval & it is a very very long way with many cultural differences. Do take care & don't be too hard on yourself - I'm not suprised you're homesick.
This is a lovely use of the doily stamp - I'll have to remember that when I next venture into my Medallion stamps.
