Sunshine yellow .....

.... I had a really fun time in my craft room yesterday afternoon and made a few cards.  But I'm only going to share one with you right now - you'll have to wait to see the others!!  This one has been made with three challenges in mind:

I've been thinking about the LIM challenge all week.  Yellow can be a difficult colour but, while "tidying" yesterday, I realised that I had the perfect set of stamps.  I've seen some wonderful cards made with Claire's French Country set, but my set hasn't been used yet!  I love the row of "buttons" in Kelly's sketch and I was going to use real buttons in my card, but I had a better idea.

I masked off the top half of the card and stamped the lovely French lace image in Versamark, embossed it with clear powder and added colour with distress ink (Scattered Straw).  I really like the resist technique.   Using my Spellbinder dies I cut out a star circle which I coloured with Wild Honey distress and a plain circle coloured with Mustard Seed.  Using my stamp-a-ma-jig and the star circle, I stamped the flowers to echo the button design!  I used watercolour pencils to colour the flowers.  I finished off with a bold, but simple, sentiment.

Stamps:  Waltzingmouse - French Country, Compact Sentiments
Inks: Distress - Scattered Straw, Mustard Seed, Wild Honey; Memento - Rich Cocoa
Spellbinders: Star Circles (S4-335) #3; Circles Sm (S4-116) #4
Accessories: Staedtler Aquarell watercolour pencils; Clear embossing powder; Card from stash

I think I'm sending this to my Mum as an extra Mother's Day card - just because I can!  That's all - see you soon.

Love your flowers and embossing is wonderful!!! Now that you've inked that set it's going to be hard to put it done....IMHO!

What a beauty Deborah! I love the lacy embossing and the wreath effect above it. Your mum will appreciate another mothers day card I'm sure! Vicky x

that's brilliant Deborah! I love that you replaced the buttons with the flowers - that sketch had me stumped as I couldn't see past the buttons and couldn't do anything interesting with the buttons I had! Love the embossed lace too it works perfectly with the yellow - looks antiqued.

Brilliant idea with the sketch - those flowers with the die-cut work superbly as an interpretation. I too love resist techniques & this looks splendid with the yellow.
