Great evening ...

... it's been a super fun evening!!  We took all our Scouts, Cubs and Beavers to see Aladdin - The Wok 'n' Roll Panto at Theatre Clwyd, near Mold.  It was fantastic!!!  The pantos here are famous for the music, fun and laughter - always a great way to spend an evening.  If you're local - I highly recommend a visit.

And the other really nice thing this evening is that two of our Scouts were awarded their Gold Awards - it's taken over two years' hard work to earn this badge.  I am proud of them both.  They were given their awards at the Theatre - such fun.

And to round the evening off in style - as we left the Theatre it started to snow again - really big, fluffy flakes - very pretty, but awful to drive in.  Still we're home safe and sound, and warm!  That's all for this evening.  See you soon.

Scouts' cards ....

... I've finished them!!  It's been a really busy day today.  I had an electrician (brilliant guy) who came round this morning to sort out my lights - the house is now really bright!!  It's wonderful, I can see things!!

And I've been in my craftroom most of the afternoon and this evening working on cards and presents for my Scouts.  I've kept the cards really simple - I used some lovely Kanban toppers from a kit that I got from QVC.  But to make them a little different I added some stamping, using lots of stamps from Waltzingmouse Stamps and some that I got cheap in a bargain bin.  All the cards are the little 3" x 3" cards (Anita's) in a soft pearly white.

For my Assistant Scout Leader, I made an A6 card - again used a Kanban topper with stamping.

Finally, I made some very simple presents for the Scouts.  I had a large jar of cherry and apple flavour sweets - Christmas tree shaped!!  Perfect.  In the Around Christmastime set from Waltzingmouse stamps there is a super little stamp that's for a "Nice Person" - so I stamped 15 of them in red and green tinsel embossing powder, cut out with a circular punch and stuck onto a plastic bag.  In each bag I put three green and three red sweets.  The bags were sealed with a card topper - the pattern was created using another Waltzingmouse stamp from Off Beat Backgrounds - I created a plaid background using red and green memento inks.  I added a punched border using my Martha Stewart ornament punch.

Tomorrow night we're taking the Scouts to see the local panto - Aladdin!!  It should be great fun.  I'll give them all their cards and presents then.

I've been busy making lots of cards, but I can't put them up just yet - they're for my fellow craft club members and some of them pop in here from time to time.  I'll post them after Christmas!!

Anyway, that's all for now.  It's time for a nice cup of coffee and to settle down and watch Chuck!!  Drop by again tomorrow - I'll have a few more cards to show you.  I also need to complete a couple of challenges!

Crafting talent ...

...  I promised some pictures of what our Cubs and Scouts made last night - so here they are.

Cards made by our Cubs (aged between 8 - 10)  - sorry it's not the best photo in the world!!
The card was reasonably simple - a collage Christmas Tree.  They started with a plain triangle onto which they glued stripes of paper - all types, colours and patterns.  The excess paper was cut away and then they added some bling using a glue pen to trace lines on the tree.  The tree was dipped into some glitter - and hey presto - tinsel lines!!  Finally they punched out a star (which was/was not) glittered and glued this to the top of the tree.  And they added a greeting and wrote inside the card.

Cards and Plunge Candles made by our Scouts (aged 10½ - 14)
The Scouts also made some plunge candles.  This was great fun and the resulting candles were amazing - they look so much better in real-life.

We all had a brilliant evening.  That;s all for this evening.  I must go and play in my craftroom - lots of cards and tags to make.

On a totally unrelated subject - Strictly Come Dancing!!  What a fab show tonight - I want Pamela to win because she's so amazing, but I also want Kara and/or Scott to win.  Kathryn wants Matt and Aliona to go through to the final - I think Kathryn wants to be Aliona!!  Oh well, we'll have to wait and see what tomorrow brings.

See you tomorrow.
