TMR - Theme .....

... Good morning and Happy Thanksgiving to all my American friends.  I'm running a day late with today's card - it's my card for our challenge at The Male Room - and I really must apologise to my team mates for being late!  For the next couple of weeks we'd like to see your masculine style projects based on the theme of THANKS/THANKSGIVING.  Here's my card:

Inks: Memento - Tuxedo Black; Versafine - Onyx Black
Accessories: White Lustre Card; SU Card - Crumb Cake; SU DP - Early Espresso, Cajun Craze, Crushed Curry; Copic Markers; Clear Embossing Powder

I've used the colour from Colour Q Challenge - cQc#318 as they work perfectly for a masculine style card, and also they are so warm.  I made the base from crumb cake card.  I cut a panel of white card slightly smaller and stamped the wreath directly on the card and coloured it with Copic markers.  I stamped the word "thanks" onto three colours of design paper and on the white panel, embossing them all with clear powder.  I cut the letters out and adhered them to the card and finished by adding a small phrase for the whole sentiment.  On the inside I cut a panel of white card, added a greeting and some colourful leaves.

Last year Thanksgiving was absolutely freezing - actually below freezing!!  Ben (our son) and his girlfriend Sophie were here on holiday and we went to downtown Detroit to watch the Thanksgiving Parade - which was great fun.  Here are some photos from last year.

Thanksgiving Day this year is just Jonathan, Kat and me and we're having a very lazy day.  We watched the parade on TV - it was so mild by comparison to last year 11C!!!  That's all for now - have a really good day.  See you soon.

ASM - Holiday .....

.....  Morning everyone!  I am very, very late with my DT card for Addicted to Stamps and More!  My excuse is that I've been busy having a fun time with my son, Ben, and his girlfriend, Sophie while they vacation with us here in the States. However, I did manage to get an hour in my craft room yesterday afternoon and have made a card for this week's challenge.  Our challenge this week is HOLIDAY, and I've made a clean, simple card for Thanksgiving:

Accessories: White Lustre Card; SU Card - Cucumber Crush; Copic Markers; Wink of Stella - Clear

One of the advantages of being late with my project is that I'm playing along with some of my favourite challenges.  I've used the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches - FMS#210 for the layout (although I've turned it to make a landscape card).  The colours are from Colour Me Card Challenge - CMCC#95 - just love them.

I stamped this gorgeous leaf three times on scrap card, coloured them all with Copic markers and used a square punch to cut out different areas.  I added sparkle to all the leaves with my clear Wink of Stella brush.  I adhered the panels flat to the card.  I finished the front with a this fabulous sentiment - love that script.  On the inside I cut a mat layer of green card and on the white panel added another leaf, coloured with slightly lighter tones, and a simple greeting.

I have to apologise to my team mates for not getting my card ready in time.  That's all for now!  See you soon.

Autumn Bliss ....

... Morning!  What's your favourite season?  Kat tells me that she loves autumn with the cooler temperatures and the colours in the trees.  I guess I know what she means and here's a card I made this morning to celebrate the beauty of autumn:

I created the bottom panel by stamping the leaf image repeatedly, turning it each time I stamped.  I trimmed the panel to size and adhered it to the card base.  I cut a mat layer of brown card and on the white panel stamped the lovely Emily Bronte quote.  I stamped the other leaves onto scrap card and fussy cut each one out.  I adhered the largest flat to the card and used dimensional gel for the smaller leaves.  On the inside I cut a mat layer of card and added a Thanksgiving message on the white panel.

While autumn is my favourite season at the moment, I think I tend to find that I love each season as it arrives!  That's all for today.  See you tomorrow.
