52CCT - Colours ....

.... Hello again! It's just coming up to 8.00am here in a very cold Northville, and I've been in my craft room already this morning to make my card for this week's challenge at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown - 52CCT14-16. Patricia is our host this month and she picked a super simple, but oh so elegant colour scheme - METALLIC GOLD AND WHITE. Here's my card:

Merry Christmas - photo by Deborah Frings - Deborah's Gems

Stamps: Stampin Up! - Wacky Wishes
Inks: Versamark
Dies: Die-namics - Pierced Rectangle Frames #2
Accessories: White Lustre Card; Gold Mirri Card; Gold Tinsel Embossing Powder

I must apologise for the photo - there's an absence of sunlight here at the moment, so getting a good picture is tough. When I try to correct the colour, it makes the card look cream and it's not! This is a super simple card. I stamped the sentiment in Versamark on white card, embossed it with gold tinsel powder (and you can see the sparkle in the photo) and used a die to cut it out. I found some gold mirri card in my stash to match the powder and cut out the frame with the detailed die. I adhered the gold frame flat to the card and attached the sentiment panel with dimensional tape. You can't see it here, but I'll take a photo when I have better light. I've not finished the inside yet, I just wanted to get my card up. I'm playing along with this week's challenge at Merry Monday - MM#199 as they wanted a card with the sentiment as the focus - done!

I took a few photos of the card to try and get the best view of the colour and the shimmer. For more inspiration with our elegant gold and white scheme, do visit our blog to see what the rest of the team have made.  It really is nice to be back in my craft room and creating! Have fun!

RSD - Progressive Challenge Team B ....

....  Hello! It's time for Team B to share our inspiration projects for Part II of the RSD Progressive Challenge.  In Part II of the challenge, you need to create a project using an image provided free by Rick St Dennis; if you want to play along but missed part I, then you can find the image at Rick's Zibbet shop.

We're at day 8 of this year's 12 Days of Creepmas, sponsored by Smeared Ink.  Rick has created a fabulous image - Take Yer Pick - he's really not sure whether it's Halloween or Christmas, and that's the whole point of Creepmas - it's a fun mix of the two!  Here's my card:

Take Yer Pick - photo by Deborah Frings - Deborah's Gems

Stamps: Rick St Dennis Digi - Take Yer Pick; Stampin' Up - Wacky Wishes, Wonderland
Inks: Versafine - Onyx Black; SU - Soft Sky
Dies: Die-namics - Zig-Zag Stitched Rectangle Stax #5; SU/Sizzix - Word Bubble Framelits
Accessories: White Lustre Card; Kaisercraft DP - Christmas Carol; Graphic45 DP - Rare Oddities Frightfully Sweet; Copic Markers; Glossy Accents; Wink of Stella - Clear

I had lots of fun with this image.  I love the parcel monster - he looks so confused, bless!!  I coloured him with Copic markers, cut him out with a fancy edge die and added snowflakes to the background and then finished the image with Glossy Accents to the eyes.  I used Christmas and Halloween design papers to cover the card base and added the image directly on top.  I finished with a sentiment that I produced on the computer and cut out with a die.  On the inside I cut a mat layer of Christmas design paper and added a fun Christmas greeting.

It's been a crazy weekend weather wise here in Michigan.  Saturday and Sunday both set new record high temperatures for December, with 63°F (17°C) on Saturday and 61°F (16°C) on Sunday, both so much higher than average.  Some places were even warmer.  In fact the whole month of December has been warmer than average so far - it's a wonderful start to winter :))))  There's been no snow at all so far - see me smiling!!!  Anyhow, that's all for now!  See you soon.

ASM - Holiday ....

....  Hello.  It's time for our new challenge at Addicted to Stamps and More!  This week our theme is "Addicted to Holidays" and this means that your entry must be related to any Holiday you like.  You can go for Christmas, Easter, Valentine, a National Holiday, or even a holiday destination.  Here's my take on the holiday theme:

Easter Greetings - photo by Deborah Frings - Deborah's Gems

Stamps: Waltzingmouse - Nestie Eggs, A Good Egg; Stampin' Up! - Wacky Wishes; Deedee's Digi - Pocketpal Kitten
Inks: SU - Rose Red, Crisp Cantaloupe, Pink Pirouette, Baked Brown Sugar
Dies: Spellbinders - Nested Eggs (S4-264) #2, 3 & 6; WMS cut files - A Good Egg
Accessories: White Lustre Card; WMS Digi Papers - Folk Art "Clean"; Doily; SU Card - Pink Pirouette; SU Marker - Rose Red; Vellum; Copics - R81

As you can see, I've gone for Easter as my holiday.  You've seen this little pocket kitten before on cards by my team mates, it's a digital image from our sponsor Deedee's Digis and it really is cute. I used papers from Waltzingmouse Stamps - Folk Art "Clean" - the main paper for the pocket doesn't actually come in pink it's a pretty image in shades of orange and naturals.  I edited the paper in Lightroom and came up with a pink that I really like.  I printed the image three times on the pink paper, cream and orange, cut them out and layered to create the finished image.  I'm submitting this card to Just Us Girls - JUGS#223, this week their technique is to paper piece!

I stamped the large Easter egg on vellum using Versamark, heat embossed with white powder, die cut it and then coloured the back with a copic marker.  I attached the pocket kitten to the egg using dimensional gel.  I stamped and die cut more eggs, mixing colours and patterns.  I finished the front with a simple Easter greeting.  The inside has a mat in pink, more eggs on the white panel and a funky greeting!

For more inspiration cards on our Holiday theme, check out the cards from rest of the Design Team cards and our Guest Designer is Gemma.  Looking forward to seeing your cards.  That's all for now - see you soon.
