Christmas bright .....

....  Good afternoon all!  Winter has arrived in the US big time!  So many places have had huge amounts of snow, and, as a consequence, there have been quite a few accidents too.  Here in Northville, while it is extremely cold - still below freezing - we only had a light snowfall and the roads here aren't too bad.  I did go out this morning to get some air in my tyres, some petrol in the tank and a bit of shopping too.  Glad I don't have to go out again today.

I've managed to get a little time in my craft room to make another Christmas card.  Yes, I know I said that I'd made them all and that I was done for the year, but apparently I can't count!!!

I used a few challenges in the making of this card:

I have an embossing folder entitled Christmas Countdown so I decided to use it to emboss the red panel.  Once embossed I rubbed the green pad over the top to bring up the numbers.  I cut a panel of green card and adhered it to the card.  I die cut a circle which I embossed using the same folder and I finished the front of the card with a simple and bold Christmas ornament.  For the inside I cut a mat layer of red and on the white panel I stamped a couple more ornaments and a bold sentiment.

That's all for today - I'm going to make good use of the time indoors and get that big pile of ironing done.  It never seems to get any smaller!!!  See you tomorrow.  Be safe.

ASM - Holiday ...

.....  Good evening - it's time for our new challenge at Addicted to Stamps and More!  This week the theme is HOLIDAY.  You weren't very keen on the colour challenge, so we decided to switch to Holiday.  We have a sponsor this week - Deedees Digis - and the winner of the challenge will get three digi images.  This is my card for our theme:

As you can see my holiday theme is Christmas, but it doesn't have to be!!  The holiday theme can include vacation time, Easter, Thanksgiving (this week in the US), New Year, Hanukkah or whatever special holiday you want to celebrate.

I printed three copies of the digital image - one coloured pale blue, one light brown and one white.  I carefully cut out the tree from the brown image and adhered it to the pale blue image.  I cut the deckle edge off the pale blue and layered it onto the white image.  I cut out the snowman and attached him to the blue image, adding some colour to his scarf, ear muff and arms.  I added two types of glitter to the ground and tree.  I cut the mat layer from Kanban foil card and wrapped metallic thread around it.  I attached this layer to the base with dimensional tape.  On the inside I cut a panel of white card, added silver edges and a simple sentiment.

I used the a sketch from Deconstructed Sketches - DS127 for the layout - nice and simple.

Snowflakes falling ....

...  well, they're not falling yet!  But, according to the weatherman, we might get a few by late this afternoon.  However, at the moment we have blue skies and sunshine - so much nicer than yesterday.  I have a Christmas card to share with you this morning:

I have seen so many wonderful cards made using Beverley's latest stamps and in these colours from Dynamic Duos - DD#77  too.  I was struggling to come up with something a bit different, and then I saw the new Deconstructed Sketch - DS126, from Jen Shults.  This card came together so quickly after that!!  I cut strips of card in turquoise and red and adhered them directly to the card base.  I cut a rectangle and stamped the snowflakes in Versamark, heat embossed with clear powder and, while still in the die, sponged on some colour to reveal the snowflakes.  I die cut a couple of the smallest snowflakes and inlaid the star in red.  I cut a flag and stamped this super sentiment in red.  The inside is simply a mat of turquoise card, with a snowflake and sentiment on the white panel.  As this card has embossing on it, I'm also submitting it to this week's CAS-ual Fridays - CFC119 challenge.    I'm really pleased with this card.
