52CCT - Theme ....

......  Good morning!  Halfway through October already - time is flying by.  But it does bring us to our new challenge at 52 {Christmas} Card Throwdown.  April has picked a really fun theme for us this week - THE WILD WOODS.  I had fun making my card:

Season's Tweetings - photo by Deborah Frings - Deborah's Gems

Stamps: Waltzingmouse - Frosty in the Meadow, Little Deer, Flurries
Inks: Versafine - Onyx Black, Vintage Sepia; Stampin' Up! - Early Espresso; Distress - Spiced Marmalade, Ripe Persimmon, Dusty Concord, Tumbled Glass, Weathered Wood, Hickory Smoke
Accessories: White Lustre Card; SU DP - Early Espresso; Copic Markers; Signo White Pen; Clear Embossing Powder

I had lots of fun creating my wood.  I started by stamping some of the tree trunks directly on the card using second generation impressions.  Then I stamped a couple which I embossed with clear powder.  Then I created the background using Distress inks - I went for an late evening sunset with a warm glow at the bottom of the image and the night sky starting to come in at the top.  I stamped another three trees in darker brown, heat embossed them with clear powder and cut them out.  I stamped the little deer and the bird on white card, coloured with Copic markers, cut them out and edged them with a black marker.  I adhered the extra trees and cute animals to the card.  I used a white gel pen to add some accents and some snow falling - see the snow on his nose!  I finished the front with a pun sentiment.  On the inside I cut a mat layer of design paper and added a greeting to the white panel.

As this card has features furry animals I'm submitting it to the current challenge at Cupcake Inspirations Challenge - CIC#331, and the sunset glow means I'm playing along with Inkspirational - INK#93 where the cue word is GLOW.

52CCT - Theme ...

.... Hello.  It's the middle of November - only five more Saturdays to go before Christmas!!  Oh, that sounds really close now :)))  I think I'd better tell you about our challenge at 52 {Christmas} Card Throwdown.  This week we have a theme challenge and Jacqueline has asked us to make a Christmas Window, here's my take:

Warm Winter Wishes - photo by Deborah Frings - Deborah's Gems

Stamps: Waltzingmouse - Flurries, Frosty in the Meadow, Elf Made
Inks: Versafine - Onyx Black; Stampin' Up! - Old Olive
Dies: Poppy Stamps - Grand Gothic Arch; Lawn Fawn - Stitched Hillside Borders
Accessories: White Lustre Card; SU Card - Smoky Slate; Anita's DP - Classic Blue Christmas; Clear Embossing Powder; SU Markers - Daffodil Delight, Early Espresso; Glitter and sequins; Acetate

I've seen shaker cards all over the Internet for the last few weeks, so I thought I'd make my Christmas window a shaker card.  I cut a panel of white card slightly smaller than the base and cut out the window shape (I've kept the white window frame for use later).  I put the panel onto the card base and lightly traced round the inside of the window frame.  I also cut a frame in grey which I attached to the white panel with double sided tape.  I cut a piece of acetate larger than the window and attached it to the tape.  I cut some snowy design paper to size and adhered it to the card base and stamped the trees.  On white card I stamped the little house, embossed with clear powder, cut it out and coloured the windows and doors.  I adhered this flat to the card.  Next I cut a white hill and adhered that flat.  I finished off with a large tree right in the foreground.  I put dimensional tape all the way round the stamped image (making sure there were no gaps) and finished by adding some glitter and sequins.  I put some dimensional tape at the corners of the window panel and a placed it on top of the foam ring.  And the shaker card works!!!! Yea!  On the inside I cut a mat layer of grey and stamped some more trees and a sentiment on the white panel.  Here's a close up of the window - you can really see the sparkle and shimmer of the glitter and sequins.

Beauty and the Beast ....

.... Good morning!  Today's card is based on the story of Beauty and the Beast - and many of use will have seen the Disney movie too!  At the heart of the story is the fact that love overcomes all.

Stamps: Rick St Dennis Digi - Belle et Bete; Waltzingmouse - Frosty in the Meadow, All Hallows Eve; Winnie & Walter - The Big, The Bold and The Happy
Inks: Memento - Grey Flannel; Distress - Evergreen Bough, Iced Spruce, Chipped Sapphire; Versafine - Onyx Black
Accessories: White Lustre Card; SU Card - Basic Black; Copic Markers; Wink of Stella - Clear

I'm submitting this card to the Progressive Challenge Part II over at Sparkle and Glitter.  It's the final part of the challenge and we have all been given this fabulous digi - Belle et Bete to use on our projects.  It's a cute image, but with a bit of edge.  I used the colours from last week's Colour Q - cQc#263 for Belle's dress and for the Beast, and I created the forest background using Waltzingmouse stamps.  I had so much fun colouring this image and I'm really pleased with the way Belle's dress came out (yellow, like in the movie).  On the inside I've put a mat layer of black card and on the white panel is a tiny cottage in the woods.  I've also put a close up photo of Belle's dress showing the sparkle!!

That's it for now - I can't put off the ironing any longer!  I'm going to have a marathon Walking Dead session while I do the ironing and then it's on to more boring housework stuff!  See you soon.

WMSFC - Anything Goes ....

....  Hello again!  I'm back with our new challenge at Waltzingmouse Fanatics - WMSFC#28 and, as it's World Card Making Day, we've decided to go for a simple theme:

ANYTHING GOES

So you can go wild - you can make cards, scrapbook pages, 3D projects, art journal pages - whatever you fancy, BUT you MUST use at least ONE WALTZINGMOUSE stamp, sentiment or digi.  I've kept to a card - I need lots of Christmas cards to mail out, so I've added to my collection using some of Claire's new stamps:

A Snowman - photo by Deborah Frings - Deborah's Gems

Stamps: Frosty in the Meadow, Woodgrain, Alpine Village
Inks: Stampin' Up! - Pear Pizzazz, Sahara Sand; Versafine - Onyx Black
Accessories: White Lustre Card; Kaisercraft DP - Mistletoe; Copic Markers

I love, love these new sets from Claire - they are so easy to colour and, as I've done here, to paper piece.  I stamped the image onto four different papers from the Kaisercraft pack and then cut out bits and layered the image.  I added a bit of dimension by colouring some shadows with my Copic markers.  I'm submitting this card to the current Jingle Belles challenge - JB:14:20 to use at least three different design papers (done) and to CAS(E) this Sketch! - CTS#95.  I have taken the liberty of flipping the sketch to fit my design.  On the inside I used some more of the design paper to make a mat and on the white panel I went wild and created a snowy forest with a sentiment too.

Before I go - I would you to join me in welcoming Kathy (Cherwell Lys Alpacas) to the Waltzingmouse Fanatics design team.  Kathy has been a regular player since Tara and I started the challenge.  Kathy often makes more than one card each time too - do check out her card and welcome her to the team.  Submission deadline is Thursday 16th October, 10.00pm BST (5.00pm EDT).  Have a really fun day - whatever you are doing!  See you soon.
