SHC - Ornament Banner Christmas ...

... Hello! Time is marching on - it's almost the middle of November and that means there are only six weeks until Christmas. So, my Seven Hills Crafts post features Christmas cards. All feature ornament banners - I made banners in pinks, blues, gold, rainbow, and red & green. Here's the first card using the pink ornament banner:

Stamps: My Favorite Things - Ornament Builder Banner; Concord & 9th - Star Turnabout, Very Merry Sentiments, Christmas Cottage
Inks: Gina K - Innocent Pink, Passionate Pink, Red Hot, Cherry Red, Jet Black Amalgam; Delicata - Silvery Shimmer
Dies: Die-namics - Ornament Builder Banner
Accessories: White & Black Card

I used the Star Turnabout alternating pink and silver inks to create the background. I cut the pink ornament banner into two, adhered them to the card front and finished by stamping the sentiment in the middle. On the inside, I stamped and added some decoration in pink to match the front of the card.

My next card uses the blue banner:

Stamps: My Favorite Things - Ornament Builder Banner; Concord & 9th - Star Turnabout, Joy, Christmas Cottage
Inks: Gina K - Powder Blue, Blue Denim, Jet Black Amalgam; Delicata - Silvery Shimmer
Dies: Die-namics - Ornament Builder Banner
Accessories: White & Black Card

I used the same star stamp for the background, but this time only stamped it twice, once in blue and once in silver.

Next is the rainbow ornament banner card:

Stamps: My Favorite Things - Ornament Builder Banner; Concord & 9th - Star Turnabout, Christmas Cottage, Warm Wishes
Inks: Versafine Clair - Tulip Red, Summertime, Cheerful, Verdant, Paradise, Charming Pink, Purple Delight; Gina K- Jet Black Amalgam; Delicata - Golden Glitz
Dies: Die-namics - Ornament Builder Banner
Accessories: White & Black Card

For this card I only stamped the stars once in shimmery gold ink as I wanted the rainbow ornaments to stand out. I stamped a greeting on the front and inside, I used the same words as the previous two cards, but this time the decoration is stamped in gold to match the stars.

The next card features the gold ornament banner:

Stamps: My Favorite Things - Ornament Builder Banner; Concord & 9th - Polka Dot Turnabout, Very Merry Sentiments
Inks: Delicata - Golden Glitz; Versafine - Onyx Black
Dies: Die-namics - Ornament Builder Banner
Accessories: White, Cream, & Black Card; Clear Embossing Powder

I changed the background to polka dots for this card and stamped the turnabout image twice in gold. I adhered the ornament banner across one corner of the card and stamped a bold greeting in black in the opposite corner which I embossed with clear powder. On the inside, I stamped the verse from Very Merry Sentiments.

My last card uses the red & green ornament banner and this time I opted for a portrait look:

Stamps: My Favorite Things - Ornament Builder Banner; Concord & 9th - Polka Dot Turnabout, Very Merry Sentiments
Inks: Kaleidacolor - Fruit Cake; Versafine - Onyx Black
Dies: Die-namics - Ornament Builder Banner
Accessories: White & Black Card; Clear Embossing Powder

I really like this Kaleidacolor ink pad, I think it's perfect for Christmas cards. I stamped the polk dot background twice. I cut the banner into two pieces, adhered them across the corners of the card and added the centre ornament with a dimensional pad. I finished by stamped the sentiment directly on the card and heat embossing with clear powder. The inside has the same verse as the cream card - but the photo was blurred!!

These cards are flat and will be easy to mail. That's all from me today. Hope you're all keeping safe and well. Bye for now.

RSD EDT - November Showcase ....

.... Hello.  Today I'm sharing a card that I've made for the Rick St Dennis November Showcase.  I'm still so excited that I was picked to join Rick's Elite Design Team.  The theme for the Showcase is Winter, and I've made a Christmas card:

Season's Greetings - photo by Deborah Frings - Deborah's Gems

Stamps: Rick St Dennis Digi - Winter Friends; MFT - Ornament Banner Builder, Seasonal Sentiments
Inks: Versafine - Onyx Black; Stampin' Up! - Smoky Slate
Dies: Die-namics - Rounded Banner STAX # 7 and #8
Accessories: White Lustre Card; SU Card -Melon Mambo, Smoky Slate; Copic Markers; Glitter; Cuttlebug EF - Snowflakes

I adore this snowman peeking round the corner - don't know what he's looking at!  You can find this image and many more at Rick's online stores, either Zibbet or Esty.    I printed the image on white card, coloured with Copic markers and cut it out with a die.  I layered it on to a grey mat layer and added some glitter - got to have glitter on Christmas cards.  I finished the front by cutting a mat layer in bright pink (to echo the scarf), stamping a bold greeting and added a snowflake embossed layer.  On the inside I cut a mat layer of pink and stamped another greeting on the white panel.

52CCT - Colours .....

.... Good morning all!  It's time for our colour challenge at 52 {Christmas} Card Throwdown and Ruth has picked some fabulous colours for us.  Here's my card (the correct version), see note below:

Merry Christmas - photo by Deborah Frings - Deborah's Gems

Stamps: My Favourite Things - Musical BG, Seasonal Sentiments, Cheerful Christmas Greetings, Ornament Banner Builder
Inks: Stampin' Up! - Gumball Green, Melon Mambo, Raspberry Ripple, Lucky Limeade; Memento - Angel Pink
Dies: Spellbinders - Labels 25 (S5-077) #3 & 5, Adorning Labels 25 (S5-210) #4, Lacey Ovals (S4-314) #4
Accessories: White Lustre Card; SU Card - Lucky Limeade, Raspberry Ripple; SU DP - Melon Mambo; Gems; SU Marker - Gumball Green

Aren't the colours just fabulous?  I've managed to use them all in my card, but you only have to use three.  I used the sketch from this week's My Favourite Things Wednesday Sketch Club - MFTWSC#175 for the layout.  I created the bottom layer by adhering strips of card and design paper.  I stamped the musical background in lime green onto white card and because this is a very large die I had to cut it on an angle.  I also used one of the dies from my new Adorning Labels 25 set - I really like the delicate filigree pattern.  I stamped the musical background again in pale pink, die cut a smaller panel and then stamped the sentiment.  I edged the die cut with green marker pen and added the lacy oval behind, and adhered it to the card with dimensional tape.  On the inside I cut a mat layer of lime green card and on the white panel stamped some hanging ornaments and finished with a simple sentiment.

Our guest designer, Judy of Created Just 4 U, and the rest of the design team have more inspiration cards using these colours.  Really looking forward to seeing what you make.

Edited:  Just a quick note to say that the picture below was the one I originally posted on this page, but I realised that I'd forgotten to include the little gems!! Silly me.

It's Mother's Day on Sunday and I'm so pleased to have my Mum over here with us - she gets to have two celebrations this year!!  I'm not sure what we'll be doing, but being able to share the day with my Mum makes it an extra special day for me.  That's all for now.  See you soon.

Family Christmas cards ....

....  Hello everyone, time for another scheduled post.   I do hope that you all had a super day yesterday.  Today I can share with you the cards I made for my family.  First, the card I made for Jonathan:

Jonathan's Card - photo by Deborah Frings - Deborah's Gems

Stamps: Waltzingmouse - Festive Foliage; Stampin' Up! - Christmas Messages
Inks: SU - Cherry Cobbler, Pistachio Pudding, Pink Pirouette
Dies: WMS - Mistletoe Dies
Accessories:  White Lustre Card; SEI DP - Berry Melody; SU Card - Pistachio Pudding

I made this card just before we flew back to the UK.  When I saw the sketch at CAS(E) this Sketch! - CTS#58 - I knew that I had the layout.  Jonathan likes the colours red and green and in my stash of papers I found this lovely sheet of stylised snowflakes and used that for the background.  In the sketch there is some holly; in my card I opted for some mistletoe - appropriate for my husband!  And the sentiment is just perfect (and part of the reason I got this set).  I stamped the mistletoe and berries onto white card and cut them out with the matching dies - thank you Claire!  For the inside I cut a mat layer of pale green card and on the white panel stamped some more mistletoe hanging down and the partner to the sentiment above.

Next up is Kathryn's card - again I made it just before we left the States.

Stamps: Funstamps - Scribble Snowman; My Favourite Things - Ornament Banner Builder
Inks: Stampin' Up! - Melon Mambo, Island Indigo
Dies: Die-namics - Ornament Banner, Fishtail Flags Layers Stax #2, Fishtail Flags Stax #2
Accessories: White Lustre Card; SU Card - Melon Mambo; Glitter Paper; Promarkers and Copics

For the layout I used the sketch from Seize the Sketch - STS#10, sadly I'm too late to submit the card, but I love the layout.  I made a really bright, vibrant card.  I made the base from Melon Mambo and cut a panel of white glitter card - to suggest a field of snow.  I used my all time favourite snowman stamp, colouring the image with a mixture of Promarkers and Copics.  I die cut the ornament banner and stamped on the snowflake ornaments.  I finished the front with a clean, simple and bold sentiment.  For the inside I simply cut a white panel and stamped another snowman - he's much more subtle inside!  I think the sentiment is totally appropriate for our girl.

And last, but by now means least, the card we gave to Ben.  You saw this one yesterday.  I made it last Friday, day we flew back to the UK.  I'd chatted, via Facebook, with Ben in the morning and he told me he hadn't received the card we posted to him.  I couldn't leave him without a card.

Details for the Santa card are on yesterday's post.  Below is the card we sent to Ben at the beginning of November, but didn't get to him. I actually made this as my card for 52CCT at the beginning of August - if you click the link you'll find all the details there.  I had originally thought it was going to be for Jonathan, but actually it works perfectly for our boy too!!

That's all for now - our Boxing day plans include playing games, chatting, eating and drinking - a perfect way to spend the day!
