Snowy Birthday ....

... Hello! I've got into a bad habit of not making enough cards and then having to rush to make them when I need one. So today, I'm sharing a snowy birthday card - I've lots of birthdays in the months from November to February - so this is perfect for my stash.

Stamps: MFT - Simply Snowflakes, Sassy Pants Birthday Greetings 2, Bitty Birthday Wishes
Inks: Stampin' Up! - Balmy Blue; Gina K - Powder Blue; Memento - Summer Sky, Paris Dusk; Hero Arts - Unicorn
Dies: MFT - Stylish Snowflakes
Accessories: White Card; SU Card - Night of Navy, Balmy Blue; Holographic Card; Gem

I'm submitting this card to Just Us Girls - JUGS#567 (use blues), Fusion - FUSION#0121 (I used the sketch), and Cardz 4 Guyz - C4G#262 (where it's Let it Snow).

I randomly stamped some snowflake images on the background using three shades of blue ink. I cut two thin strips of blue card and stamped a birthday greeting in white on the navy strip. I adhered them flat to the card. I finished the front by die-cutting a silver holographic snowflake, adhered it to the blue strips and added a simple blue gem in the centre. I used the sketch from Fusion for the card. On the inside, I cut a panel of blue card for the mat layer and on the white layer added a fun birthday greeting in dark blue, along with several more blue snowflakes.

That was fun! I think I'm going to spend a bit more time today making a few more, much needed, birthday cards for my stash. That's all for now. See you again soon.

C4Glz - Happy Birthday ....

... Hello, good morning! It's time for our new challenge at Cardz 4 Galz - C4Glz#124 and we want to see your feminine cards with a STEAMPUNK theme. If you're not sure what steampunk is, then hopefully this definition will be of assistance:

a genre of science fiction that has a historical setting and typically features steam-powered machinery rather than advanced technology.
"if you like steampunk, this is a great book for you"
  • a style of design and fashion that combines historical elements with anachronistic technological features inspired by science fiction.
"the essence of steampunk is homage to vintage fashion with a modern, sassy twist"

I've made a birthday card:

Stamps: Kanban - Jasper, Viviene; Dawn Bibby - Flower Patch; MFT - Sassy Pants Birthday Greetings 2
Inks: Versafine - Onyx Black; Gina K - Jet Black Amalgam, Dusty Pink
Dies: Cheery Lynn - Gears (B340)
Accessories: White Card; Kanban DP - Mechania; Clear Embossing Powder; Rose, Copper, Nickel and Pink Satin Finish Mirri Card; Copic Markers

I had lots of fun making this card and it's quite different to my usual style. I started by stamping the steampunk outfit on white card. I coloured the image with Copic markers, put it back in the MISTI and restamped with Versafine ink and heat embossed with clear powder. I then carefully cut it out leaving a slight border all round. I did the same for the dress stand. I die cut lots of different gears using some of my satin mirri card scraps. I have a very old pad of Kanban design papers that work perfectly for the steampunk theme. I cut a panel of the rivet paper for the bottom mat layer and some lovely ruby brocade effect paper for the next layer. I adhered the gears around the edge of the card and used dimensional pads to attach the dress. I finished the front with a simple greeting stamped on the rivet paper, and added a few gears here too. On the inside, I used more of the rivet paper for a mat layer and on the white panel I added a snarky, but fun, birthday greeting and added some pink gears along with a crown.

That's all from me, do visit our blog to see more inspiration from the rest of the team. I look forward to seeing your steampunk creations! Bye for now.

CASOF - GD - Happy Birthday ...

... Hi! Recently, I was picked as winner of the flower challenge at CAS on Friday and, as a result, I'm their Guest Designer for this week's challenge. So this week at CAS on Friday - CASOF#181, the DT want us to make a clean, simple card with the theme of Animal. Here's my card:

Stamps: Waltzingmouse Stamps - Frame It; Inkadinkadoo - Patterned Pets; MFT - Sassy Pants Birthday Greetings 2
Inks: Gina K - Jet Black Amalgam; Versafine - Onyx Black
Accessories: White Card; Copic Markers; Clear Embossing Powder

I'm submitting this card to Perfectly CAS - PCAS#9 where the theme is to use only a third of the card along with Animals, and to Addicted to CAS - ATCAS#185 where the theme is Rainbow.

For me this is an ultra CAS card - I do tend towards CAS, but it's not often that I go as CAS as this!!! I stamped the square frame onto the white card base and, using my MISTI, carefully positioned the funky cat image in the space. I stamped the cat, coloured it with Copic markers, repositioned it in the MISTI and restamped using Versafine ink and then heat embossed the image. This technique gives a really clean, crisp image - which is exactly what you need for a CAS card. I finished by adding the simple sentiment. On the inside, I added a sassy and fun birthday greeting along with the same cat, but this time I didn't colour the image.

I had fun colouring the cat all the colours of the rainbow! That's all from me today - see you again soon.

SHC - Totally Tropical birthday ...

... Morning! It's time for my post for Seven Hills Craft blog. I've a bold, bright and very tropical birthday card to share with you today:

Stamps: Altenew - Parrot Paradise, Totally Tropical; MFT - Bitty Birthday Wishes, Sassy Pants Birthday Greetings 2
Inks: Gina K - Black Amalgam; Stampin' Up! - Blushing Bride, Flirty Flamingo, Granny Apple Green, Call Me Clover; Versafine - Onyx Black
Dies: Altenew - Parrot Paradise, Totally Tropical
Accessories: White Card; SU Card - Flirty Flamingo; Clear Embossing Powder; Copic Markers; SU Vellum - Botanical Garden; Nuvo - Clear Aqua Shimmer Brush

I'm submitting this card to Seize the Birthday - STB#191 where they want a Totally Tropical card, and to Fab Friday - FABF#190 where the colours are quite tropical!

I started by stamping the large parrot on white card, colouring with Copic markers, putting it back in the MISTI and restamping with Versafine and heat embossing with clear powder. I used the matching die to cut it out. I put some white card in my MISTI and did all the leaves at one go - so easy with this stamp positioner. I used a couple of shades of green ink and then cut out the leaves with the matching dies. I wanted a large tropical flower and used the layered hibiscus image. I cut a panel of peach card adhered it to the cardbase and added some matching tropical themed vellum over the top. I attached the leaves and flower directly to the card and used dimensional pads for the parrot. I did add some sparkle to the parrot. I finished the front with a clean, crisp and simple birthday greeting.

On the inside, I cut a mat layer of peach card and on the white panel I stamped a fun and sassy birthday greeting along with another hibiscus flower.

That's all from me today. I'm having a very busy week - I'm doing another online mixed media class with Dyan Reaveley in the evenings - it's so much fun! See you again soon.
