TMR - Colours ....

.... Good afternoon. I'm running a tad late with my DT card for this week's challenge at The Male Room - TMR#40. For the next couple of weeks we want you to use some particular colours on your masculine projects - RED, BLUE and one other. You need to make sure that it's an actual colour, not a tone of red or blue, so yellow, orange, green, purple. You can use neutrals and gold and silver. Here's my take:

Stamps: Waltzingmouse - Free Spirit Boy, Free Spirit Sentiments
Inks: Memento - Tuxedo Black, Grey Flannel; Versafine
Accessories: White Lustre Card; Stampin' Up! Card - Real Red; Copics; Clear Embossing Powder

I've gone for a very clean, simple and graphic look for my card. I've used my all time favourite stamp - the circles from Waltzingmouse Free Spirit Boy. Sadly, Waltzingmouse has now closed up shop, but Claire is working with Gina K and has released some of her stamps via Gina K. Who knows, perhaps, Claire will make a few more masculine sets?? As I've used my favourite stash on this card, I'm going to play along with AAA Cards - AAA#69.

I cut a panel of white card smaller than the base and, using my Misti, stamped the image in Memento Tuxedo Black. I coloured sections of the circles in red, blue and green. I then put the finished panel back in the Misti, inked up with Versafine, stamped and heat embossed with clear embossing powder. This is a trick I picked up from the new Heat Wave class over at Online Classes. I layered the finished panel on red card and attached it to the card base. On the inside I cut another mat layer of red card and on the white panel stamped the circles again - this time in grey.

I'm still not back on my proper routine, but I'm getting there. That's all for now! See you soon.

TMR - Metal ....

...  Good morning everyone!!  It's time for our new challenge at The Male Room - we'd like you to use METAL on your project.  Here's what I made:

Dude - photo by Deborah Frings - Deborah's Gems

Stamps: Waltzingmouse - Half Pint Heroes, Free Spirit Sentiments; Winnie & Walter - Bubble Talk
Inks: Memento - Tuxedo Black; Stampin' Up! - Blackberry Bliss
Accessories: White Lustre Card; SU Card - Always Artichoke; Self Adhesive Metal Sheet; Cuttlebug EF - Diamond Plate; Copic Markers; SU Marker; Adirondack Alcohol Inks - Ginger, Butterscotch, Cranberry, Lime

I used a couple of challenges to make this card.  I used the sketch from the current Fusion challenge - FUSION#18 and the colours are from this week's Paper Players - PP#213.  I turned the sketch to make a landscape style card, I also used the idea of a car, but made it masculine.  I made the central panel from a self-adhesive metal sheet.  I embossed the metal and then added colour with alcohol inks (matching them as closely as possible to the Paper Players challenge colours).  I layered the panel onto a piece of green card.  I stamped the little car on white card and coloured it with Copic and Stampin' Up! markers.  I made the sentiment banner from white card, stamped the sentiment and attached it to the card with dimensional tape.  I glued the car directly to the sentiment panel.  On the inside I cut a mat layer of green card and on the white panel stamped a simple sentiment and another car.  I've also included a detail shot of the metal panel where you can really see the colours!

For more inspiration using metal on your masculine projects - check out The Male Room blog and see what my team mates have made!  Before I go, I'd like to thank everyone for the fabulous submission for our last challenge - so many wonderful projects!!  That's all for now!

Edited:  Just realised that this is my 1,500 post!!! Blimey!

WMSFC - For the boys ....

.... Hello again!  I'm back with our new challenge for Waltzingmouse Fanatics.  This time we'd like to see you make "Something for the Boys"!  Both Tara and I really enjoy making masculine style cards and Claire has some fab stamps just perfect for the guys in our lives.  Here's my take:

You are missed - photo by Deborah Frings - Deborah's Gems

Stamps: Waltzingmouse Stamps - Free Spirit Boy, Free Spirit Sentiments
Inks: Kaleidacolor - Denim, Vineyard
Accessories: Stampin' Up! Card - Night of Navy, Naturals Ivory; SU Candy Dots

It will come as no surprise that I've used my "go-to" guy set - Free Spirit Boy.  I absolutely love this big circles stamp.  I used navy card to make the base and cut a couple of panels of the naturals card.  On the smaller panel I stamped the circles.  I inked it up using a couple of Kaleidacolor pad, picking out the colours that I wanted.  I cut the stamped panel into three, adhered it to the other panel and added the sentiment at the top.  I then attached it all to the card base and finished with the horizontal strip with a couple of candy dots.  The inside has a panel of naturals card and a subtle impression of the circles stamp.

I used a couple of challenges to help me bring the card together - the layout is based on this week's Freshly Made Sketches - FMS#124 and the colours are from Colour Throwdown - CTD#280 which are just great.

You have plenty of time to join in with our challenge - the deadline is Thursday 6th March at 5.00pm GMT (that's noon EDT).  You must use at least one WMS stamp, digi or paper on your card.  Don't forget Tara also has some inspiration for you - do drop by to see.  That's all for now.  Bye!
