JUGS GD - Hero ....

... Morning all! I am so excited to share the news that I am Guest Designer at Just Us Girls for the entire month of May!!! 😄😀😄 The first challenge of the month is a word challenge and this week the word is HERO. Here's my take:

Stamps: Waltzingmouse Stamps - Kaboom, Halftone Basics; There She Goes - Cutie Pi
Inks: Hero Arts Neon - Orange, Green; Gina K - Black Amalgam
Accessories: White Card; Copic Markers; Glossy Accents; Nuvo - Clear Aqua Shimmer Brush

With all that's going on in the world with Covid-19, some of my heroes are the scientists who are working so hard to come up with a vaccine and treatment. So my card is to honour the scientists, that's not to say the other key workers are forgotten. I'm submitting this card to Perfectly CAS - PCAS#08 where they want us to use Masking.

I've been going through all my crafty stash and this card is made entirely from stamps that have been discontinued (so sad), but they are still super. I stamped the scientist towards the edge of the card and then covered her with a mask so that I could stamp the neon "superhero" elements. After removing the mask, I coloured the image with Copic markers. I stamped the sentiment in bold black and finished the front by adding glossy accents to the goggles. I also added a touch of sparkle to the fluid in the testtube. On the inside, I carried on with the "superhero" elements with a bold green frame around the words and some stars. I also stamps some chemistry glassware at the bottom of the card.

I took a close-up photo of the goggles to show the glossy finish - it makes such a difference to the finished look of the card.

Come and join in this week's challenge at Just Us Girls - JUGS#534 to make a card for a hero. Can't wait to see what you make. Be safe, keep well. See you soon.

Inner nerd ....

.... Hello! I've another card with a science theme for you this morning. I was having lots of fun and the stamps were still on my desk, so I had to do it:

Nerdy - photo by Deborah Frings - Deborah's Gems

Stamps: MFT - Undeniable Chemistry; Sweet Stamp Shop - Elements; There She Goes - Cutie Pi
Inks: Kaleidacolor - Fresh Greens; Versafine - Onyx Black
Accessories: White Lustre Card; Stampin' Up! Card - Emerald Envy; Clear Embossing Powder; Zig Brushes; Wink of Stella - Clear

I really like the way the word "nerdy" is made up from actual chemcial elements - makes me so happy! In my stash is a very old (and now discontinued) stamp set from There She Goes with this wonderful "atomic" structure image and I think it goes so with with the sentiment. I used Zig paint brushes to colour the letters and hearts and added some clear Wink of Stella for shimmer. I layered the panel on emerald green card and then attached it to the base. On the inside is a mat layer of green card and on the white panel I added a sentiment and another image.

This is going to go in my stash of cards that I send to Jonathan, together we make a great team. So I'm going to submit this to CASology - CAS#223. Oh yes, it also works for our challenge at The Male Room - TMR#48 where our theme is SCIENCE. I've managed two cards for their challenge this week. That's all for now!

Eureka! ....

.... Hello again!  I was busy in my craft room this weekend and late last night I finished another science themed card for a few challenges.  Here it is:

Eureka - photo by Deborah Frings - Deborah's Gems

Stamps: Clearly Besotted - Scientifically Speaking; Your Next Stamp - Perfect Chemistry; There She Goes - Cutie Pie
Inks: Stampin' Up! - Riding Hood Red, Daffodil Delight, Tangerine Tango, Lucky Limeade; Memento - Tuxedo Black; Versafine - Onyx Black
Accessories: White Lustre Card; SU Card/DP - Lucky Limeade; Copic Markers; Glossy Accents

This one is being submitted to the following challenges:
I printed the mad professor on white card, coloured him with Copic markers and cut him out.  I masked off the sides of the card and then randomly stamped the atom and molecule images to create the panel - has a sort of retro feel.  I cut a thin strip of green card on which I stamped the sentiment.  I then adhered the professor on top of the strip - he's mad some sort of discovery.  On the inside I cut a mat layer of dotty design paper and added a fun sentiment in the middle.

I really do think that's all for today.  Got lots of household chores to do - those that I put off last week and they really can't wait any longer!  See you soon.

Mad scientist ....

....  Hello again.  Today is World Cardmaking Day - which is good, as I've spent the morning in my craft room playing!  And I've managed to make a card for CASology - CAS#166 where the cue word is SCIENCE!!! Yea, it's been ages since I've played along with them and I couldn't resist this one.  Here's my card:

Cute - photo by Deborah Frings - Deborah's Gems

Stamps: There She Goes - Chemistry, Cutie Pie; Your Next Stamp - Perfect Chemistry
Inks: Memento - Tuxedo Black, London Fog; Stampin' Up! - Bermuda Bay; Versmark
Accessories: White Lustre Card; Copper Mirri Card; Copic Markers; Wink of Stella - Clear; Copper Embossing Powder; Pitt Pen - Copper

I found some new stamps last week - Perfect Chemistry by Your Next Stamp - and, as a chemistry nerd, I just had to have them!  I love the way they used the symbols for copper and tellurium to create the word "cute".  I stamped it in Versamark and embossed with copper (what else?) powder.  I stamped my 'mad scientist' on some white card, coloured him with Copic markers, cut him out and edged him with a black marker.  The flask he's holding contains copper sulphate solution - which, when dilute, is a really pretty turquoise solution.  I adhered him flat to the card on top of the word.  I added a fun sentiment and finished the front with a hand drawn border - in copper!!  On the inside I cut a mat layer of copper card and added a fun sentiment.   I've just found a, new to me, challenge - City Crafter Challenge Blog - CCCB#281 where the theme is GEEK CHIC, so I'm going to play along there too.

I think I'm going to have a quiet day today.  Jonathan isn't feeling at all well - he's running a temperature and has flu, and he's gone back to bed to try and sleep.  Kat is doing her homework.  So I'm on my own and will spend the rest of the day crafting too!  See you tomorrow!
