TMR - Theme

... Hi! I didn't manage to create anything for our last challenge at The Male Room, so for our new challenge today, I've created two projects!! For the next couple of weeks at The Male Room - TMR#59 we have a fun theme for your masculine projects, we want you to feature

MANY LEGS

I think this gives a few options. I've decided to make a couple of Halloween cards - featuring creatures with many, many legs!!!

Happy Halloween - photo by Deborah Frings - Deborah's Gems

Stamps: Rick St Dennis Digi - Octasac; Clearly Besotted - All Occasion Sentiments
Inks: Versafine - Onyx Black
Accessories: White Lustre Card; Graphic 45 DP - Rare Oddities; Enamel Dots; Copics; Spectrum Noir Sparkle - Clear

I've used one of my favourite RSD digis for this card, and the thing I like about digi images is that you can change the size and orientation. So I printed one larger than the other and flipped the one so that they face each other. I cut a strip of design paper from some scrap and used this to anchor the Halloween Octopods. I coloured them with Copic markers, cut them out with a scalpel and added some sparkle to them with a clear Spectrum Noir brush. I hooked the larger of the octopus on the strip of card and adhered it flat. I used dimensional gel to attach the other octopus and finished by adding some enamel dots and a simple greeting in black. On the inside I cut a mat layer of co-ordinating design paper and put a panel of white card on top, which is blank for my message. I'm submitting this card to Less is More - LIM#325 where they want to see a clean and simple card with a stripe

My second card also features a Rick St Dennis mutant alien - he's a Space Spider!!

Stamps: Rick St Dennis Digi - Space Spider; Clearly Besotted - All Occasion Sentiments
Inks: Versafine - Onyx Black
Accessories: White Lustre Card; Graphic 45 DP - Rare Oddities; Vellum; Copics; Spectrum Noir Sparkle - Clear; Clear Embossing Powder

I used the sketch from this week's CAS(E) this Sketch! - CTS#218 for the layout, although I turned it to make a horizontal card. I think these mutants spiders are super, but I'm glad they're made of paper and not real!!!! I cut a large strip of design paper for the centre of the card and I based the colour of the spiders on the bottles (which you can just about see) on the strip. I stamped the sentiment on some cloudy vellum and heat embossed it with clear powder. On the inside I cut a mat layer from the co-ordinating design paper and added a white panel, currently blank.

TMR - Theme .....

... Hello! I'm here this morning to tell you about our new challenge at The Male Room - TMR#46. You probably won't be too surprised to learn that we have a theme challenge and that the theme is

HALLOWEEN

I've been busy making all my Halloween cards ready to post out to friends and family. This is a fun one:

Be Afraid - photo by Deborah Frings - Deborah's Gems

Stamps: Rick St Dennis Digi - Aliens; Impression Obsession - Bump in the Night; Stampin' Up! - Playful Backgrounds; Ranger - Dina Wakley Halloween 16
Inks: Versafine - Onyx Black; SU - Pumpkin Pie, Wild Wasabi
Accessories: White Lustre Card; SUDP - Halloween Night; Copics; Wink of Stella - Clear

I adore this gruesome little alien and printed him on white card, coloured him with Copics and then fussy cut him out. I edged the image with a black marker to hide the white card. I used the sketch from CAS(E) this Sketch -CTS#193 for the layout. I used a strip of design paper for the vertical panel. I masked off the DP and stamped the bubbles in green and orange for added texture. I adhered the alien directly to the card and used my MISTI to position and stamp the greeting. I decided to add some sparkle to his eyeball with a clear Wink of Stella brush. On the inside I cut mat layer of design paper and on the white panel added some more bubbles, a greeting and a Halloween bat!

I used the colours from The Paper Players - PP#316, they seemed so perfect for a Halloween card. And I'm submitting this to Left of Centre - LOC#151 who want to see Halloween - check!

Do visit our blog to see more inspiration projects from the rest of the team. Don't forget that you can make any type of paper craft project for The Male Room, just remember it has to follow the theme and be masculine in style. That's all for now!

For my little monster ....

....  Hello!  Time has got away from me again!!  I've been doing house stuff and watching the football and tennis (but more of that later).  Today I've got a fun card to share with you:

Love ya - photo by Deborah Frings - Deborah's Gems

Stamps: Rick St Dennis Digi - Aliens & Mutants; Stampin' Up! - Just Sayin'
Inks: Versafine - Onyx Black, Majestic Blue
Dies: SU/Sizzix - Word Bubbles Framelits
Accessories: White Lustre Card; Copic Markers; Cuttlebug EF - Distressed Stripes

I saw the sketch at CAS(E) This Sketch! - CTS#82 yesterday and immediately knew what I wanted to make.  A card for my little monster, to be fair Ben's not that little any more, however he's still a bit of a monster.  But he's my monster and I love him to bits!

I recently discovered the art of Rick St Dennis - he has a wonderful collection of digi images for all occasions and I bought the Aliens & Mutants sheet which includes the cute guy above.  I printed it on white card and coloured with Copic markers, then cut him out and ran him through my Xyron to make him self-adhesive.  I cut a panel of white card and embossed it for some texture, adding a touch of colour to define the edge.  I want Ben to know that no matter how far away he is, I love him.  I made the thought bubble using the Just Sayin' set - I changed out the sentiment to fit what I wanted.  The inside has been left blank for a message from me.  I'm submitting this card to the Rick St Dennis Facebook Challenge - Anything Goes and also to the Simon Says Wednesday Challenge - Anything Goes

I mentioned earlier that I'd been watching the football World Cup.  England has already gone home, so as I'm living in the US I'm supporting them.  Yesterday USA played Germany in their final match of the group.  The first half was really good and USA were holding Germany, but sadly Germany scored in the second half.  The final score was 1 - 0 to Germany, but as the group stage goes on points and goal difference - USA are through to the final sixteen.

I'm also being distracted by the tennis at Wimbledon.  There have been some really good matches and it is really lovely to see Wimbledon.  We have really good coverage here, better than I expected.  It's been a while since I actually went and watched matches there, but maybe when we go back to the UK that's something we'll do.  There was a really good match today between Petra Kvitova and Venus Williams, sadly Venus lost in three sets: 5-7, 7-6, 7-5.  There's plenty more to come!  That's all for today - see you tomorrow with my cards for 52 {Christmas} Card Throwdown and also Waltzingmouse Fanatics.  Bye for now!!
