Teen grunge ...

... I think that's what I'd probably call this card.  I've made it for two challenges; the first is from One Stop Craft Challenge who want us to make a card for a male, and the second is the sketch challenge from Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge.  It's quite a fun sketch this week.

I've gone for a mixture of greens and blues from a co-ordinating paper pad.  I added some faux stitching (still not got my sewing machine out of its cover) and added a simple greeting.  It's the sort of card I'd send to my teenage son - not too fussy, but shows I care!

Stamps:  Waltzingmouse - Free Spirit Boy, Off Beat Backgrounds;  See D's - You're the Star;
Inks:  Memento - Paris Dusk, Cottage Ivy
Paper:  Papermania - Inspirations Cool Tones

It's taken me a while to get here today, been busy doing house stuff!!  And this evening I went through some of my Scout Leader training modules - which have now been validated - so well on my way to earning my Wood Beads!!  And that's all for now, I'll be back again tomorrow.  I've got a couple of challenges to do and hopefully make the deadline!

For a child - part two ...

... yesterday I posted a card that I'd made for the One Stop Craft Challenge 113 - which was to make a card for a child, and I told you that I'd actually made two cards.  But I was a tease, and kept one back for today!!  This card was also made using the "Help for Katie" stamp set that is available on Jak Heath's blog - helping to raise funds for Katie and her family.

In the stamp set there are lots of super images, but I feel in love with this whale - designed by Shawn - Studio 313 - it's so cute and has lots of greetings to go with it.  I printed it off and cut it out with my trusty Spellbinders die and coloured with promarkers.  I decided to make the card base the sea - so I coloured it with my distress inks, added some seaweed, an old ship wheel, some fish and mounted the coloured whale image onto some blue fabric (free with a sewing magazine).  I added some faux stitching in green onto the fabric (sewing machine still not out of moth balls yet!).  I added the birthday greeting - using foam pads for a little dimension.

Stamps:  Jak Heath - Help for Katie set (digi-images from lots of designers); Waltzingmouse Stamps - Half Pint Heroes; See D's - Boys Toys; Stampin' Up! - the ship wheel - don't know the name of the set
Inks: Distress - Tumbled Glass, Shabby Shutters, Stormy Sky, Chipped Sapphire, Broken China;  Memento - Cottage Ivy, Pear Tart, Rich Cocoa, Pottered Clay, Antique Linen
Promarkers: Cool Grey 1, 2, 3; Blush, Meadow Green, Bright Green
Spellbinders:  Labels 9 die #5 and #6; Big Scalloped Ovals (S4-251) - die #2

That's all for now.  Lots to do today - which should keep me out of mischief!!  Do drop by again later this evening.

For a child ...

... that's the theme for this week's challenge at One Stop Craft Challenge.  Now I've got a few stamps that I could have used for this card, but this morning on Jak Heath's blog I read about Katie - a fellow crafter - who's had the most awful news about her health (see earlier post).  Jak and many other talented designers, including Claire from Waltzingmouse Stamps, got together and have donated various digital images to raise funds for Katie and her family.  I got the set this morning - and it's great - so many lovely images.  Do have a look at Jak's blog and see if you can help Katie.

Now I mentioned Claire specifically because she has created the sweetest images in the "Help for Katie" set - there are others, check in again tomorrow, equally lovely.  But for tonight's card - I've used the Little Prince in a castle window - the greeting is separate, but I've printed them together.  I've coloured the image with promarkers and shaded with distress inks, adding a gold border with a felt pen.  I was going to leave the card very plain, but then I rememberd that I had a castle stamp in my collection - and I intend to use my old stamps more often - so I had a rummage and found it.  I stamped it in London Fog and painted with distress inks.  I shaded the card with distress inks to give some depth.  Finally, I added a birthday greeting on the card.

Stamps:  Waltzingmouse Stamps - Little Heros;  Jak Heath - Help for Katie Set; Castle stamp (can't remember who makes this one)
Inks: Distress - Antique Linen, Tumbled Glass, Peeled Paint, Barn Door, Black Soot, Pumice Stone, Walnut Stain; Memento - London Fog, Tuxedo Black
Promarkers:  Warm Grey 1, 3, 5; Blush, Satin, Gold
Spellbinders:  Small Labels die #4

I have made another card for this challenge - but I'm not going to post that one until tomorrow - do drop by to check it out!

That's all for today - I'm off to have a well earned cup of coffee.  See you again tomorrow.

Black, texture and swirls ...

.... these are the ingredients required in Challenge #36 at Cooking It Up with Katie.    This card also fulfils the challenge on One Stop Craft Challenge - here the requirement is to feature embossing.  It took me a while to come up with the design - and my requirement was that it would be a Christmas card to add to this year's collection.  So here it is:

Stamps:  Stampin' Up! - Delightful Decorations
Cuttlebug: D'vine Swirls
Embossing Powder: Heat It Up! - Red Tinsel, Black Tinsel
Peeloffs: Dawn Bibby tiny sentiments
Card/Paper:  From stash
Accessories:  Ribbon from stash

The silver metallic foil hasn't shown up too well on the picture - but it's lovely in real life.  These bauble stamps are great - so versatile and I've embossed them with sparkly powder - again not too clear in the picture, but very twinkly here!!

I'm off back to my craftroom, as I've got an idea for another challenge.  I should be back again later.

One for two ....

... by that I mean, one card - two objectives.  I've submitted the card below for my final assignment on Glenda's course at MCC and also for the challenge at One Stop Card Challenge.

Stamps:  Creative Impressions - Floral
Inks:  Distress - Tumbled Glass, Spice Marmalade; Kaleidacolor - Blue Breeze, Fresh Greens; Versamark
Paper:  Blue holographic paper from stash; White hammered card base
Embossing Powder: Detail Silver
Greeting:  From a set with Large initial C and little images and words - can't remember who made it, but I'll post details if I can find them.

I used all three of the stamps from the Floral set, using the largest with the distress ink and stamped the background.  Then I overstamped with the smaller flowers using shades of Blue Breeze.  I mounted the topper onto some blue holographic paper from my stash.  Next I used the largest flower image on some watercolour paper, stamped with Versamark and embossed it with detail silver embossing powder.  Then I wet the paper and added inks from Blue Breeze, allowing them to merge.  I used Spice Marmalade for the centre of the flower.  I used the same technique for the leaves.  I used my stamp-a-ma-jig to help me position the greeting so that it lined up with the edge of the topper.  For the greeting I used the darkest shade of blue in the Blue Breeze inks.

I'm really pleased with how this card has come out.  It's a very simple congratulations card - can be used for just about anything - new job, passed an exam, wedding; a useful addition to my stash.

That's all for today, I'll be back tomorrow.
