AC - Be You ...

.... Morning everyone!  I'm running a bit late with my post today - it's Kathryn's first day back to school - and she's in High School!  We were all up a bit earlier than previously - Kathryn was up at 5am!!!  She has realised that this is a bit too early and will be adjusting it tomorrow.  I managed to get her to have some breakfast before she headed out to school, but she wouldn't let me take a photo!  Darn!

Today I'm hosting our post at Airless Chambers, where we share some of Rick St Dennis's darker images.   I've used a couple on the art journal page that I'm sharing with you this morning:

Be You - photo by Deborah Frings - Deborah's Gems

Stamps: Rick St Dennis Digis: Please Don't Feed My Hat, Steampunk Rose Bug; Dylusions - Laugh Til You Leak, Bits of This, Pondering Petunia; Stampers Anonymous - Brett Weldele The Presenters
Inks: Dylusions - Pomegranate Seed, Tangerine Dream, Postbox Red, Bubblegum Pink, Slate Grey; Distress - Black Soot, Festive Berries; Archival - Jet Black, Plum
Accessories: Dylusion Art Journal Book; White Lustre Card; Copic Markers; Wink of Stella - Clear, Green, Red; Signo White Pen; Sakura Stardust Pens; Stencils - Dylusions - Chequered Dots, Skulls; CWS - Mini Branches; Tim Holtz - Scribbles

I printed the Zombie hat lady and the steampunk rose on white card, coloured them with Copic makers, cut them out and added some sparkle using Wink of Stella and Sakura Stardust pens.  I ran both images through my Xyron to make them self-adhesive and adhered them to the page.  made the background at our regular Scrappy Chick Kitchen Roll Sprayers meeting a while ago. Last night I added some more to the background using several stencils - Skulls, Scribbles and Mini Branches.  I also stamped some of Dyan's images on the page as well as the fab rose from Brett Weldele.  I stencilled the border using black distress ink.  I finished the page by adding some white highlights to the eyes, around the words and drew a border to frame the page.  I think this sentiment works with the images.

As I've used mostly reds on this page I'm submitting the page to the current challenge over at Left of Centre - LOC#94 where the team want us to use mostly reds!  Done.

Here are a couple of close up photos of the two main focal images - I did have fun colouring them in.

SNG - Frida Kahlo ...

.....  Hello again!!!  I do hope you liked my Zombie Lady card!  I'm back with another card for this week's Inkspirational Challenge - INK#78.  The theme at the challenge is to create a She Art project or simply to use a woman's image.  Here's my card:

Frida - photo by Deborah Frings - Deborah's Gems

Stamps: Randi Dandi Tribute - Frida; Dylusions - Laugh Til You Leak, The Write Words
Inks: Stampin' Up! - Rich Razzleberry
Dies: Lil Inkers - Stitched Rectangles # 4
Accessories: White Lustre Card; Kaisercraft DP - Violet Crush; Copic Markers; Wink of Stella - Clear

Don't you love the image? It's called Frida and is drawn by Rick St Dennis, exclusively for I Brake for Stamps.  It's part of Rick's Randi Dandi Tribute series, you can also get rubber stamps designed by Rick at I Brake for Stamps.  I printed the image on white card, cut it out with a die and then coloured with Copic Markers.  I've used the colours from this week's Colour Throwdown - CTD#334 as they are just perfect for Frida.  I added just a touch of sparkle to her gems.  I was a bit nervous colouring this image, so I looked up pictures of Frida Kahlo (see below) on the Internet and used them as a guide - such a beautiful woman.  I covered the card with some floral paper to match the colours on the image and adhered the image.  The words come from one of my Dylusions set - seemed absolutely appropriate for an artist.  On the inside of the card I cut a mat layer in design paper and stamped a greeting on the white panel.

There is a Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo exhibition on at the Detroit Institute of Arts from now until 12th July, and it was watching the adverts on TV that gave me the idea of making a card with this image.  We'll be visiting the exhibition in the not too distant future.

The photos above were taken by Nickolas Murray, who had a 10 year relationship with Frida.  I think the images are absolutely fabulous.  That's all for today - see you soon.

AC - I am an angel! ....

... Morning!  This week is rolling by rather quickly - I find it hard to believe that it's almost the end of January, only seems like five minutes since Christmas.  I think that's more a sign of my age that actual time :))))  Anyway, enough of that.  I've a rather querky card to share with you today:

I am an Angel - photo by Deborah Frings - Deborah's Gems

Stamps: Rick St Dennis Digi - I am too an Angel; Dylusions - Laugh til you Leak, Clearly Borders
Inks: Archival - Jet Black; Stampin' Up! - Brocade Blue
Accessories: White Lustre Card; SU Card - Sahara Sand; Teresa Collins DP - Far & Away; Copic Markers; Wink of Stella - Clear; Sakura Stardust Pens

Last December I decided to play along with the 12 Days of Creepmas, but sadly wasn't able to stay the course.  One of the images I coloured was this fantastic Angel drawn by Rick St Dennis and available at his Zibbet shop.  I love the little goblin guy in his sweet tutu telling us he "is so too an angel!!" - Adorable!

This week's layout (flipped upside down) at  CAS(E) this Sketch! - CTS#107 gave me an idea of what to do with him.  I used my copic makers to colour some scrap card to make the floor, traced the outline of his legs on the panel and then cut out the shape.  I used design paper for the rest of the card.  I then adhered the angel to the card.  I got some new Dylusions stamps yesterday (love these pithy sentiments) and found one that is just perfect.  I stamped it onto kraft card, cut it out and adhered it to the front of the card.  On the inside I cut a mat layer of kraft card and on the white panel added the crazy border.

When I showed this to Kathryn, she just absolutely loved it.  She read the sentiment and said "I know how that feels!" - Kathryn often tells me she is the odd one out and has no friends.  However, the evidence from her friends doesn't support that.  I've no idea what I'm going to do with this card - it's going into my stash for now!  Bye for now!
