Paper, glitter and Christmas ...

... Hello from a cold and snowy Northville - it's so pretty here.  It's been snowing since 8.00am and we have a light covering - about 1½", and there's that strange quiet that always comes with snow.  And it's really put me in the mood for making Christmas cards.  This one has been made with a couple of challenges in mind:

Stamps: My Favourite Things - Stitched Stockings, Seasonal Sentiments; Waltzingmouse - Join Us, Nutcracker Sweet
Inks: Stampin' Up! - Cherry Cobbler, Sahara Sand
Dies: Die-namics - Stocking Trio
Accessories: SU design paper - Be of Good Cheer; SU Card - Very Vanilla; SU Dazzling Diamonds

This was really fun to make.  I picked this lovely paper for the background and cut a panel of Very Vanilla onto which I stamped some snowflakes.  I stamped this bold sentiment in the centre of the panel.  I stamped the star and heart border onto Very Vanilla card and cut it to fit the card.  I stamped a few of the elements again in Sahara Sand, cut them out and adhered them to the panel.  I die cut one of the stockings, glittered the dots, added a coloured button and attached it to the card with dimensional tape.  It's hard to see in this photo, but I also glittered the snowflakes - they have a subtle shimmer.

For the inside I used another piece of the snowflake paper as the mat layer and decorated the panel with the star and heart border, adding a sweet sentiment.  I used Cherry Cobbler to highlight the word "Christmas" and the star in the centre of the the word "peace".   I've attached a close up of the front of the card - I think you can see the glitter better here!

Kathryn has a day of school today - not because of the snow!  No, it's just the end of the first semester and a rest day for the children and teachers.  I think it's a well earned rest day.  The terms here are very long in comparison to the UK.  We had planned to go to the movies, but I don't fancy driving in the snow - so Kathryn is catching up on some TV and listening to her music, and I'm playing in my craft room.  A perfect day for us both!!

See you soon!
