For a boy ....

.... I had great plans to spend yesterday in my craft room, but it was so hot here that I simply relaxed with a book and several glasses of water!! Oh yes, I also had a play with my blog and changed the patterned background to a simple colour - I love all shades of green :)

I  did get into my craft room this afternoon and have made a card for this week's challenge at Less is More - LIM68, where the theme is to make a CAS for a baby or child.

I had several ideas, so may come back with another card later this week, but this one is for a little boy - I don't know who yet, so I think it's a card for my stash.  I used one of the digi-images that Claire Brennan designed last year for the "Help for Katie" collection.  I adore this cute Fire Engine - it's just perfect for a little boy's card.  I cut it out using my Spellbinder die and cut a mat layer in red - to match the engine!  I inked in the sky and ground with distress pads and coloured the engine with Promarkers.  I attached the image over an embossed panel and finished with two simple sentiments.

Stamps:  Waltzingmouse - Help for Katie Collection, Half Pint Heroes
Inks: Memento - Grey Flannel; Distress - Peeled Paint, Tumbled Glass
Spellbinders: Labels 11 (S4-246) #5
Accessories:  Cuttlebug Folder - Herringbone; Stampin' Up! Card - Basic Grey, Poppy Parade; Card from stash

It's great having a car at last.  I was out early this morning and off to the Social Security office to apply for my Social Security Number.  The whole process was really quick; I was in and out in under half an hour - my SSN should be with me in about two weeks.  I'm now feeling less of a non-person - you need a SSN over here for all sorts of things.  I also went to one of my local shopping areas to get some new bed linen and storage containers for my craft room.  It's so nice being able to get out when I want, rather than wait for the weekend and rely on Jonathan.

It's been a beautiful day here with blue skies and hot sunshine, but it's been a bit muggy and has clouded over now - I think we'll have some rain this evening.  Anyway, that's all for now - see you soon.

  5. Finally we have sunshine here too! Love the background for the fire engine & the red mat works a treat. the grey strip reminds of tarmac too so it's a great interpretation of the LIM.
