One layer Wednesday ....

... we've had a really fun weekend.  It's been cold, crisp and bright - just the way I like it in the winter.  We've had a couple of hard frosts and it's great going out when it's like this.  Today, I took Kathryn to her friends birthday party at the local tenpin bowling alley - they had a fun time.  Kathryn was really pleased as she won both her games!!  Mum and I spent a happy couple of hours window shopping in the new John Lewis at Home store.  I saw so much that I'd like to get, but was very good - all I got was a tea!!!  Anyway, enough of that - you're here for cards, so without further ado - my card.

Susan from Simplicity has a wonderful challenge for the One Layer Wednesday this week - she would like us to make a card using only red and pink.  For me this one was quite easy - the idea came quickly, but it took a while to put together.

I started off with a white textured square card 13.5 cm × 13.5 cm (5¼" square).  I used my stamp-a-ma-jig to position the square frame and the heart inside.  Then I masked off the square and stamped in pale pink some music and finished off with this simple sentiment.  I think I'm giving this to my darling daughter - just because I love her!!

Stamps:  Waltzingmouse - Frame-It, Musical Backgrounds, Sweethearts; The heart was free with a magazine a few years ago
Inks:  Stampin' Up! - Regal Rose, Pretty in Pink, Real Red; Distress - Festive Berries
Accessories:  Stampin' Up! - Stamp-a-ma-jig and card from stash

Tomorrow looks like being busy.  Mum has to go to hospital for her warfarin blood test and after that I've got craft class, which is always a pleasure.  Hopefully, I'll have something to share with you tomorrow too!  See you soon.

Edited:  To add that sometimes I hit the wrong button - this was supposed to go live tomorrow morning:)

  2. What a lovely thought, Deborah. Your card is really sweet! I thought at first it was just one stamp, until I read that it is actually several...Well done!

    Deborah,
It was after I read your comment on Stella's blog that I started to use Google Chrome. Thank You! I am now able to leave comments, and after my initial panic about the favourites issue, I really like using it:) x

  6. Pink and red are a perfect combo on this card. I love the soft pink music sheet ( great WM stamp!) as a background for a bright and happy red heart. Gorgeous!

  13. What a pretty CAS card. I am surprised at how well the stamping took over the textured cardstock.
