CR84FN29 .....

... it's that time again!!  And the colours for this week's CR84FN are soft, subtle and fabulous!!  Plum, light plum and kraft - gorgeous.  I have to say that I loved last week's colours and it brought forth lots of wonderfully bright, cheerful and summery cards - thanks ladies - I really enjoyed looking at all your cards.

Our inspiration photos for the graphic are courtesy of Martha Stewart - don't you just love that cake!!!

This week's card is for one of my best friends - Heather - she celebrates her birthday on 27th May.  And I couldn't think of a more appropriate colour palette for her!

I decided to make the sentiment the main feature of my card and used Spellbinders Labels 20 to die cut a bit of white card.  I coloured this with milled lavender and dusky concord and then I stamped a huge "Happy Birthday" greeting in dusky concord.  I embossed the greeting for some shine.  I made a mat for the sentiment using the die which I used to cut out the top layer.  This time I drew around the outside of the die and cut out the mat which gives a smaller border than the next size die!!  I made my own backing paper using the same colours and my favourite rose stamps.  I added some ribbon and used dimensional tape to mount the sentiment.

Stamps:  Waltzingmouse - Roses in Bloom, Say It Loud
Inks: Versamark; Distress - Miller Lavender, Dusky Concord, Peeled Paint
Spellbinders:  Labels 20 (S5-026) die #4
Accessories:  Card, ribbon and embossing powder from stash

I've been staging my cards a bit recently and quite enjoying it - this time I've put a small teddy in the photo - the teddy is purple and called Buffy (from the TV series, but also the name of another good friend).  I've also taken a photo of the inside of the card - I randomly stamped the roses and added a simple sentiment - along with a very sweet rose bud and leaf.  I've not taken a photo of the envelope, but that's been decorated too!!

Now for more inspiration using these terrific colours go and check out the Design Teams' blogs - we've great cards to share with you.

That's all for today - while you're reading this - I will be enjoying the last day of The Acoustic Festival of Britain.  See you tomorrow.
